Warranty and Punchwork Crew Leader

AmeriCorps National members serve the community in direct service and capacity building activities.

What will you do?

The construction warranty and punchwork crew leader plays an integral part in data intake and tracking of the construction process, as well as the building and repairing of homes. This includes an active role in assisting with the documentation of job information with various construction software platforms. They lead groups of skilled and unskilled volunteers and homeowners in construction activities while maintaining a safe, efficient work environment, thus developing and enhancing their volunteer management and construction skills.

  • Typically serve Tuesday - Saturday on the build site.
  • Assist with all aspects of hands-on construction tasks including, but not limited to, demolition, site prep, framing, insulation, drywall, flooring, roofing, finish carpentry and landscaping.
  • Assist with all aspects of job set up on various construction software platforms including loading key data for each new home, including budget, start dates, deliveries, and color selections from homebuyers. Work closely with procurement staff to update and change these job set-ups as needed and communicate with the purchasing team upon completion.
  • Assist with intake of all warranty repairs including communication with homeowners through email and phone. Create and maintain tracking documents for warranty requests received and communicate with construction staff.
  • Maintain site safety by adhering to Habitat construction safety policies, modeling best practices and guidelines, volunteer education and site monitoring.

This position will focus on home construction aspects of Habitat affiliate operations.

  • Activities and attractions: Our offices and AmeriCorps apartments are less than 15 minutes away from uptown Charlotte, a three-hour drive from the beaches of North and South Carolina, and a two-hour drive from the Blue Ridge Mountains. Charlotte offers a wide range of entertainment options including many museums, parks, and restaurants. The city is home to several professional sports teams, including the NFL's Carolina Panthers and the NBA's Charlotte Hornets. Additionally, Charlotte hosts a variety of cultural events and festivals throughout the year.
  • Unique projects: This member will be able to help plan and implement Homeowner Maintenance classes for partner families to ensure they are able to maintain their homes after move-in. Additionally, this member will be able to see the completion of a 39-home development called the Meadows at Plato Price, and will see the progression of a 28-home neighborhood development that our affiliate will break ground on later this year.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must be a U.S. citizen, national or lawful permanent resident at least 18 or older and have a high school diploma or GED.
