Position Summary

Working as part of a tight-knit team, you will support attorneys and legal assistants in the Americas by providing in-depth expertise in docketing, calendaring, court rules, procedures, legal proceedings, case activity and electronic court filings.

Although primarily focused on day-to-day operational matters, you will also work on a wide range of projects. You can anticipate unforeseen challenges and will be both resilient and pragmatic in your approach to managing change.

Through extensive contact with lawyers and business services leaders, we are trusted to offer advice and implement changes that help our teams perform at the highest level and deliver outstanding client service.

Duties and Accountabilities


  • Assist the Managing Clerk with day-to-day operations of the Managing Clerk's Office, ensuring work is completed efficiently and accurately
  • Handle electronic case filings via CM/ECF, NYSCEF, and other state court filing platforms (including but not limited to DC, IL, FL, TX, and CA).
  • Advise attorneys on state and federal court rules and procedures, including court practices.
  • Review documents to ensure basic compliance with applicable rules.
  • Perform legal docketing via docketing software to generate calendars from court documents, correspondence, rules and statutes.
  • Research deadlines not contained in docketing software's automated calculations.
  • Provide general and/or specialized docket reports upon request.
  • Assists with the quality control of docket and calendar entries.
  • Oversee and coordinate notarization and legalization of documents.
  • Manage and coordinate legal services with outside vendors, such as hard copy filings, service of process, retrieval of documents, transcript, etc.
  • Maintain and manage secure e-filing credentials for attorneys.
  • Oversee federal court bar admissions and renewals for attorneys, includes collecting, maintaining, and updating admission information.
  • Oversee the ongoing use and development of docketing and case management software, including Compulaw, CourtAlert, and ECFx.
  • Working with the Managing Attorney and Managing Clerk to develop orientation presentations and training programs.
  • Lead and mentor the department's clerks to ensure high performance and excellent customer service.
  • Foster a collaborative team culture, promoting open communication and teamwork.

Qualifications


  • Minimum of 8 years working in a Managing Attorney/Clerk's office at a large law firm.
  • Familiar with CompuLaw, CourtAlert, Bloomberg Law, and ECFx.
  • Ability to handle, prioritize, and complete assignments with competing deadlines.
  • Must deliver high quality work product and independently follow up and follow through.
  • Possess general knowledge of court procedures in New York state and federal courts.
  • Highly detail-oriented and accurate.
  • Self-motivated, flexible, and organized.
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team.
  • Enthusiastic, proactive, and positive-minded.
  • Able to interact effectively and professionally with lawyers, support staff and court personnel.
  • Licensed Notary Public preferred

Location and Reporting






    • This is a hybrid in-office/remote role which is based in our New York office.
    • This role reports to the Managing Clerk and Managing Attorney.
