On-Call Catering Staff

We are seeking multiple On-Call Catering Staff who can work flexible hours to service our robust on-campus catering business for special events. This position will perform various tasks associated with setting up, serving of food, bussing tables, and cleanup. This position is required to work evenings and weekends. Schedule varies depending on events.

Key Responsibilities:

• Serves as a representative of Roanoke College, displaying courtesy, tact and respect in all interactions with our students, member of the RC community and with the general public.
• Apply and enforce proper methods of safety and sanitation as instructed by the VDH and Dining Services management.
• Responsible for all advance setup and special details of catered events.
• Responsible for the cleanliness and order of the ballroom kitchen and areas where catering supplies are stored.
• Works closely with supervisor to ensure that all requirements of an event are met.
• Responsible for the timely delivery of all catered events.
• Responsible for the care and the return of all equipment after each event.
• Work a flexible schedule in accordance with the schedule of events.
• Upon completion of an event, notes final information on the event form.
• Follows and enforces policy and procedures as established by Dining Service management.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience, Skills, and Abilities:

• High school diploma required
• Experience working in the food service industry
• Ability to work well with others

Our staff must display courtesy, tact and respect in all interactions with our students, members of the RC community, and with the general public. No experience is required, but some catering or food service experience is preferred. This a 12 month on-call position, with the bulk of events happening during the academic year. Uniforms and non-slip safety shoe allowance provided. In addition, as a college employee you are able to use the campus facilities such as the fitness center and library, receive a discount at the campus store, have free admissions to programs and more.
