Overview

Are you passionate about audio technology and digital signal processing?

Our team is looking for a dynamic Senior Engineer, Digital Signal Processing (DSP) to lead the design, development, and implementation of advanced DSP solutions for our cutting-edge audio products. This Senior Engineer will also collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and mentor junior engineers.

This role will be hybrid out of our HQ in Niles, IL.



Responsibilities

    Pioneer DSP Innovation: Lead the creation and implementation of advanced DSP algorithms and architectures for audio signal processing. Tackle challenges like noise reduction, echo cancellation, and high-fidelity audio codecs to shape the future of audio technology.
  • Optimize Real-Time Audio Performance: Develop and fine-tune real-time audio processing software on DSP chips, FPGAs, and other digital platforms, ensuring unparalleled efficiency and top-notch audio quality.

  • Rigorous Testing & Validation: Execute comprehensive testing, verification, and validation of DSP algorithms and systems to guarantee optimal performance and functionality across diverse conditions.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work hand-in-hand with software engineers, hardware engineers, and product managers to ensure our DSP solutions are seamlessly integrated and fully compatible with our innovative product designs.

  • Market-Driven Solutions: Dive into customer requirements and market trends to craft groundbreaking DSP solutions that elevate audio performance and enrich user experiences.

  • Stay Ahead of the Curve: Keep abreast of the latest advancements and emerging technologies in the DSP field. Contribute to our R&D efforts to enhance current products and spearhead new developments.

  • Thorough Documentation: Create detailed design specifications, test procedures, and application notes. Deliver comprehensive technical documentation that supports product development and customer assistance.

  • Mentorship & Leadership: Guide and mentor junior engineers, fostering their professional growth. Promote a culture of knowledge sharing and innovation within the team.



Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field. Master's degree or Ph.D. in DSP or a related field is highly desired.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in digital signal processing, with a strong focus on audio signal processing and algorithms.
  • Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience in advanced DSP theory, algorithms, and implementation techniques, with proficiency in developing DSP software using tools such as MATLAB or similar.
  • Expertise in programming languages such as C/C++, assembly language, and scripting languages for real-time DSP applications.
  • Deep understanding of DSP platforms with the ability to optimize software (ARM, TI, etc.).
  • Exposure to machine learning algorithms; Ability to debug and optimize models for integration in embedded platforms.
  • Strong background in audio signal processing techniques, including advanced audio effects, adaptive filtering (i.e. echo cancellation, noise reduction), filtering, and beamforming.
  • Proven experience with audio codecs, audio streaming protocols, and audio interfaces (e.g., I2S, TDM, USB, Ethernet).
  • Solid understanding of digital hardware design principles, digital filters, and analog-to-digital/digital-to-analog converters.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and in a team environment, providing technical leadership and guidance.
