Nursing Assistant (PV)

Job Description

Assists patients in obtaining the maximum level of independence in activities of daily living. Performs direct/indirect nursing procedures and technical/laboratory activities as appropriate and in accordance with Hospital policies and procedures.

Job Responsibility

• * Administers nursing care to assigned patients under the direct supervision of a registered nurse.
  
  
  
  • Provides hygienic care to patients assigned and oversees/assists with activities of daily living; performs assigned treatments and procedures
  • Takes vital signs of patients assigned and reports values to nurse in charge.
  • Reports observations and unusual conditions of patients to registered nurse.
  • Prepares patients for meals and helps feed them as assigned.
  • Provides constant observation for patients requiring increased security to prevent harmful behavior.
  • Follows principles of infection control and patient safety.
  • Carefully assists patient to wheelchair or stretcher and transports, as needed.
  • Collects required specimens as directed; e.g., urine, feces, sputum.
  
  
• * Maintains the environment of patients.
  
  
  
  • Assists in maintaining a safe and clean environment in patient's room
  • Participates in ensuring that work areas are clean.
  • Replenishes supplies as necessary.
  
  
• * Functions effectively within the organizational structure.
  
  
  
  • Accepts assignment, seeks clarification as needed, and carries out assignment.
  • Reports patient care observations and findings to RN regularly
  • Participates as an integral part of the nursing team in assuming additional duties and responsibilities.
  • Maintains competence by attending in-service education programs.
  
  
• Performs related duties, as required.

Job Qualification

• High School Diploma or equivalent, required
• Successful completion of a Nurse Assistant Program, preferred.
• Minimum of one (1) year of experience, preferred.
