Join the Inova Fairfax Hospital as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant! This is an INPATIENT ADULT ACUTE CARE UNIT in a level 1 trauma center. MUST HAVE HOSPITAL INPATIENT EXPERIENCE. We are a collaborative team with plenty opportunities for mentorship and development. Full Time M-F, 8-hour shifts, weekend rotation

Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant Job Responsibilities:


  • Documents clearly, concisely, and legibly within established time frames, (e.g. allows other therapists to continue treatment, allows for interpretation by payers, and supports reimbursement) as evidenced by chart review and team feedback.
  • Contributes to educational and training efforts of department/clinic, (e.g. in-services, students, CPR, new hire orientation, and QI/PI) as evidenced by program/clinic-specific documentation.
  • Demonstrates fiscal responsibility and knowledge about department expenses and revenue (e.g. supplies, equipment, billing, and staff resources) used in the department, as evidenced by team feedback and observation.
  • Selects appropriate treatment methods for patients' diagnosis, age group, and physical and emotional status, as evidenced by observation and documentation.
  • Recognizes the need for alterations in the treatment method and overall plan as the patient advances or regresses while acting accordingly, as evidenced by observation, documentation, and team feedback.
  • Notifies primary PT/OT of non-routine changes in the treatment situation, discharge complications, or other circumstances that require reassessment or staff guidance, as evidenced by team feedback.
  • Educates patients and/or family in home exercise programs, transfers, caregiving, home safety, and use of adaptive equipment, appropriate to level of understanding.
  • May perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Certification - Basic Life Support Upon Start

Licensure - Occupational Therapist Assistant Licensed Upon Start

VA License required

Experience - Graduate of approved certified occupational therapy assistant program.

Education - associate's degree Occupational Therapist Assistant

Associate degree from an accredited certified occupational therapy assistant program
