Job Summary

Estrella Mountain Community College (EMCC) is hiring a Student Services Specialist Senior. This position will assist appropriate college personnel, students, schools, and community agencies serving K-12 and college-bound populations in identifying opportunities for student recruitment, retention, collaboration and supporting resources. Areas include but are not limited to: general college recruitment, Dual Enrollment, Achieving a College Education (ACE), Hoop of Learning (HOL). This position is also responsible for tracking and reporting on cohorts using various tools such as SIS, Excel Spreadsheets, and Tableau dashboards.

Essential Functions

30% - Performs a variety of student services functions such as: recruitment, admissions, general advisement, orientation and registration for new and continuing students; provides assistance in related student services processes including admissions, financial aid, campus tours, recruitment and retention activities; provides services for students participating in Early College programs and their parents/guardians; represents the college in various recruitment, early college and retention activities and events, including travel to local high schools, community and other outreach related events; tracking and follow-up with multiple cohorts; prepares and delivers group information sessions to new and prospective students and parents; facilitates services to include: recruitment, admissions, placement testing, financial aid application, academic advisement, registration, community education, and referrals to related services.

25% - Provides general advisement to prospective and new students in person and via email, phone and chat; assists students in initial program planning and course selection through the interpretation of placement tests; corresponds with students to resolve problems related to student service functions.

25% - Monitors and maintains an appropriate campus outreach and retention based environment for college students by maintaining accurate records, assisting students with follow-up activities, responding to prospective student inquiries; enforces and/or explains federal, state, district and/or local policies; provides information to students, parents and other stakeholders regarding various student services and academic/occupational/workforce development programs; assists in student activities and participates in program events; serves as primary liaison for concurrently enrolled students and their parents/guardians.

20% - Prepares materials and communication mediums by assisting with the development of recruitment and advisement related materials and presentations; organizes and distributes information as necessary. Assists with special projects as assigned; other duties as assigned commensurate to grade level of position.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited institution and two (2) years of full-time equivalent student services or college teaching experience or experience assisting with educational program development and coordination, student advisement, financial aid, or related student development programs.

OR

High school diploma/GED and four (4) years of full-time equivalent student services or college teaching experience or experience assisting with educational program development and coordination, student advisement, financial aid, or related student development programs.

Desired Qualifications

A. Bachelor's Degree

B. Experience working with students in a high school or college/university setting

C. Experiencing developing and delivering group presentations

D. Experience working with under-represented and/or at-risk populations

E. Experience coordinating and planning recruitment/enrollment events

F. Experience with online student records systems such as Peoplesoft and Customer Relationship Management tools

Special Working Conditions

Will be required to travel to assigned feeder high schools.

Hours may vary; may be required to work weekends and evenings.
