JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The Department of Campus Recreation is seeking a Penn State University Park student to fill the position of Climbing Wall Head Route Setter. In addition to Route Setter duties, the Head Route Setter is responsible for assisting the Coordinator of Campus Recreation in leading the team of Route Setters by acting as a mentor, creating and disseminating route setting assignments, training new Route Setters, and assisting with special tasks, projects, and events as needed. Attends mandatory staff meetings and training`s. Individuals should possess a desire to learn new skills, develop leadership abilities, and interact with others in dynamic and challenging settings. Must be a team player, willing to cover or trade shifts when necessary. Must be able to work days, evenings, and weekends as necessary. Prior climbing and route setting experience required. Must demonstrate proficiency with all roped and unroped route setting systems. CPR/First Aid/AED certification preferred although not required. Campus Recreation is a department within Student Affairs that provides fitness, wellness, and recreational programs to the campus community through the operation and administration of the new expanded and renovated 200,000 square feet Intramural Building, the McCoy Natatorium, the 700-acre Stone Valley Outdoor Recreation Area, a Tennis Center including six clay courts and four indoor courts, the White Building, Outdoor Adventures, Aquatics, Club Sports, Fitness and Wellness Programs, and Intramural Sports. CAMPUS SECURITY CRIME STATISTICS: Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Pennsylvania Act of 1988, Penn State publishes a combined Annual Security and Annual Fire Safety Report (ASR). The ASR includes crime statistics and institutional policies concerning campus security, such as those concerning alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, the reporting of crimes, sexual assault, and other matters.
