The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Neurosciences at the University of Minnesota seeks a full-time, board-certified/eligible Ophthalmologist with fellowship training in glaucoma to join our dynamic, growing team. Academic rank to be determined by qualifications. The department includes over 40 faculty members across all ophthalmology subspecialties, including two other Glaucoma Ophthalmologists. The practice is based at the University of Minnesota, with potential opportunities at one or two affiliated sites in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area, a metropolitan region with a population of over 3 million. The department enjoys state-of-the-art technology for imaging, laser treatments, and diagnostics and a top-ranked Clinic and Surgery Center that opened in 2016 There will be opportunities for clinical research, as well as supervising, mentoring, and teaching medical students, residents, and fellows, including curriculum development responsibilities. The successful candidate will engage in research projects and academic activities, either independently or in collaboration, with the goal of securing external research funding. Faculty development opportunities will be available to support the candidate's career goals. Additionally, the candidate will be encouraged to participate in national ophthalmology organizations and foster an academic environment for students, residents, and faculty. About the Department: The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Neurosciences is dedicated to teaching, research, service, and delivering exceptional clinical care. Its core academic missions are to educate medical students, post-M.D. trainees (residents and fellows), and students in allied health programs, while advancing knowledge in ophthalmology through both basic scientific and clinical research. Dr. Silvia Orengo-Nania recently joined the program as Department Head and is focused on expanding the faculty and advancing the department in teaching, research, innovation, and excellence in eye care. Pay and Benefits: This role is dually employed by University of Minnesota Physicians and the University of Minnesota. Total salary is market competitive and based on AAMC salary benchmarks. Clinical salary, aligned with clinical effort, is provided through M Physicians. The base salary range this position is $249,647 - $492,450 commensurate with experience, qualifications, and cFTE.
