We also investigate the environmental component of neurodegenerative disease and gene-environment interactions. A major focus of the laboratory is to identify changes in translation and cellular metabolism using genetically encoded tools in various experimental models (e.g., Coyne et al, Cell Reports 2017; Manzo et al, eLife 2019; Lehmkuhl et al, Acta Neuropathologica Comm 2021, Godfrey et al, Acta Neuropathologica Comm 2023). The successful applicant is expected to have experience and a record of accomplishments in one or more of the following areas: Drosophila genetics, molecular and cellular approaches (e.g., cloning, RNA/protein isolation, immunoprecipitations, immunofluorescence), cellular metabolism (e.g., mitochondrial biology) and/or behavioral assays. The successful candidate is expected to have an excellent record of publication.
