JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Penn State Altoona Division of Education, Human Development, and Social Sciences

Penn State Altoona, Division of Education, Human Development, and Social Sciences, invites applications for an in-person fixed term, Assistant Teaching Professor of Criminal Justice, beginning Fall 2025. This position is at the rank ofInstructor or Assistant Teaching Professor in Criminal Justice with expertise in policing and may also teach courses that fit within the needs of the criminal justice program and the candidate's experience. Candidates for the position at the rank of Instructor will possess a master's degreeand candidates for the position at the rank of Assistant Professor will possess a terminal/doctorate degree.

The position requires the teaching of 12 credit hours per semester, advising and mentoring undergraduate students, as well as providing service to the College, community, and the profession. Each candidate should demonstrate a commitment to undergraduate teaching and working collaboratively with faculty and local criminal justice agencies.Successful candidates will be dedicated to ensuring the highest quality education while also encouraging individual growth, cultural awareness, ethical decision-making, and civic responsibility. Candidates will also be expected to assist in the ongoing growth and development of the program and participate in student recruitment and retention activities, as well as program assessment.
