What to Expect
Automation Engineers are responsible forimplementingequipment controlssolutionsfor allcell manufacturingprojects.This includes design, architectureand implementation of automatedequipment such as automated storage systems, robotics, automated case and pallet conveyance, automated guided vehicles, fixtures, etc. Automation Engineersownequipmentcontrolsstandard,hardware programming,robot programming,commissioningand review processof the project as well as additional functions such asauditing,installationand safety assessment.
What You'll Do
- Program and debug structured text and ladder logic code on multiple PLC controller platforms (Siemens TIA Portal and Omron Sysmac Studio)
- Create intuitive operator touchscreen interfaces using Siemens WinCC / Proface / Weintek EasyBuilder and SCADA dashboards screens using Ignition
- Create robust programs and sequences to control complex, multi-station machinery to perform processes such as material pick and place, dispense, roll to roll, welding, testing and material transport
- Set up and tune servo drives and VFDs for fast and smooth operation
- Participate in initial equipment conceptual development and carefully balance product specifications, process requirements, layout complexity, cost, and lead-time limits
- Design and implement control reliable safety systems for safeguarding robots, gantries, conveyors, and other high-volume manufacturing equipment as per codes and standards
- Manage electrical cabinet builds, field wiring, pneumatic and fluid plumbing
- Manage suppliers during specification, design, buyoff and installation of automated manufacturing equipment
- Develop & maintain proper documentation of all electrical equipment and associated procedures, making updates as required
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Science or 5+ years' experience in Control Systems Design and PLC, or equivalent
- Implementation(Siemens, Omron preferred)or equivalent
- Human Machine Interface (HMI / GUI - Proface, WinCC, Ignition)
- Proficiency creating detailed electrical and fluid schematics in CAD (EPLAN preferred)
- Structured Text (IEC 61131-3) programming skill
