Position Overview
Primary Purpose of Position |

Under the direction and supervision of the
CAHSS Dean, this position will educate faculty, students, and staff about career pathways, opportunities, and career skill development within the disciplines in the College of Art, Humanities, and Social Sciences. Responsibilities include assisting students with determining career goals and identifying career development programs to achieve internship, career and graduate school goals.
Other duties include, but are not limited to:
- Working in collaboration with Dean's Office, Office of Career Services, faculty, and potential employers to advise and enroll students in internships.
- Providing career advising to guide in ensuring employment pathways.
- Organizing career and professional development activities for CAHSS students (professional networking events, resume writing workshops, etc.)
- Developing and organizing internship and graduate school opportunities for majors in CAHSS.
- Working with the Office of Career Services team members to meet data collection goals.
- Participating in team meetings and professional development activities as directed by the Dean.
- Engaging career development specialists, businesses, organizations, program directors, faculty and all stakeholders in information sessions related to college and career success.
- Maintaining high quality and professional partnerships with business and community partners.
- Representing the College professionally and handling all student inquiries confidentially.
- Collaborating with department chairs and program directors to stay abreast of program needs in the area of student professional development.
- Communicating with department chairs and program directors' opportunities for growth, improvement, and new programs based on business/employer's feedback.
- Establishing a relationship with the college advisors to create meaningful opportunities in early access and awareness for first generation college students.
- Performing other duties as assigned by the Dean.

Primary Function of Organizational Unit |
The College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences (
CAHSS) enrolls more than 1,950 students and has more than 180 faculty and staff members.
CAHSS houses the Departments of Criminal Justice, English, History and Political Science, Journalism and Mass Communication, Liberal Studies, and Visual and Performing Arts.
The
CAHSS Dean's Office has administrative oversight/responsibility for the six academic units and affiliated programs of the College, as well as for its faculty and staff. |
