About the Department

Based on the Carnegie Foundation Classification System, The University of Cincinnati (www.uc.edu) is a Doctoral Granting Research University with very high research activity (RU/VH). Located in Cincinnati, Ohio, it is part of Ohio's higher education system with over 50,000 students enrolled. The Behavior Analysis Program is in the School of Human Services in the College of Education, Criminal Justice, Human Services, and Information Technology (CECH). The School also includes undergraduate and graduate programs in Counseling, Exercise Science, Health Promotion and Education, School Psychology, Substance Abuse Counseling, and Sport Administration. The School is a leader in online course and program development, and there are many active collaborative activities across programs and with community partners. The Behavior Analysis Program currently offers an M.Ed., which includes an ABAI-verified course sequence. The Program will be launching a M.S. degree in the fall of 2025. and will be seeking accreditation for this new degree to align with BACB requirements for eligibility to take the BCBA exam. Both degrees are currently offered online only.

Job Overview

The Behavior Analysis Program in the School of Human Services at the University of Cincinnati is currently accepting applications for up to two tenure-track Assistant Professor positions. The successful applicant will be expected to further the University's excellence in research (including obtaining external funding, publishing, and presenting) and teaching. Although teaching responsibilities will be online, the position requires work on campus in Cincinnati. An Assistant Professor at the University of Cincinnati is expected to teach, conduct research, scholarly and other professional or creative activities. This position will support the University of Cincinnati's mission and commitment to excellence in our students, faculty, staff, and all of our activities.

Essential Functions

  • Conducting scholarly research in behavior analysis, publishing research, presenting research at conferences, and obtaining external funding (e.g., grant writing).
  • Teaching graduate coursework in behavior analysis online, including courses on topics such as ethics, concepts and principles of behavior analysis, behavioral research methods, functional behavioral assessment, behavioral intervention, and supervision.
  • Supervising student field experiences and culminating projects, including collaboration with field supervisors and settings both locally and remotely.
  • Advising graduate students.
  • Contributing to program development within Behavior Analysis, including accreditation efforts.
  • Engaging in university, professional, and community service, including but not limited to serving on search committees, scholarship review committees, reappointment, promotion, and tenure review committees, peer reviewing for journals, service on workgroups of professional organizations.

Minimum Requirements

Prior to effective date of appointment, candidates must have all of the following:



  • Doctorate in behavior analysis, psychology, or related field.
  • Be a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).
  • Record of research in behavior analysis, evidenced by one peer-reviewed publication and one other work in progress.
  • Experience teaching one graduate course in behavior analysis, which could have been as a teaching assistant.
  • Two (2) years of professional experience implementing behavioral practices in roles such as behavior analyst, intervention specialist, behavior therapist, or behavior technician.
