Quality Engineer (REGULAR/FT/EXEMPT)

SUMMARY:

The goal of this position is to assist in maintaining Quality standards throughout production to include shop builds, outsourced modules, and incoming parts/materials; reports to VP Operations Steam. The idea candidates have been a welder for several years as a code welder, knows how to inspect welds, and knows all about the ASME NBIC code program. The primary job responsibility is to manage our ASME/NBIC code program.

The Role:



  • Maintaining the quality of supplied parts to satisfy the production line needs.
  • Defining control plans with the Engineering department and aligning requirements with the suppliers.
  • Making continuous improvement action plans to enhance part quality and reduce the number of non-conformities and the cost to the company's bottom line due to poor quality.
  • Have a clear understanding of the function and quality standards of each part to be acquired.
  • Require suppliers to be proactive on quality improvement actions including effective communication, and closely communicate with company stakeholders embed requirements in each part.
  • Understanding quality control tools and applying them to part quality improvement.
  • Training the suppliers on main quality tools (as 8D report)
  • Scheduling suppliers' audits
  • Supporting the strategic buyers in selecting approved new suppliers (Approval Procedure, Supplier Risk Analysis, Supplier Assessment)
  • Establishing long lasting and transparent relationship with suppliers



Requirements:



  • Technical and welding background
  • Background in a manufacturing environment or similar
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings
  • Knowledge of machining processes
  • 3 + years' experience in a similar role
  • Command of Quality Management System (ISO 9001) and Environmental Management system (ISO 14001)
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite
  • Proficiency in Autocad, Matlab, etc.
  • Strong command of SAP software and ERPs such as NetSuite, Wynne, Maintainx
  • Positive and proactive approach showing empathy and resilience
  • Availability for business trips, estimated travel up to 90%
  • Fluent in English
