Provides counseling and other services to children and families in a Boys Town program under direct supervision from a licensed practitioner. Assists in developing treatment plans as well as observing, evaluating, and documenting the results of treatment interventions. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES: Under the supervision of a licensed practitioner, provides supervised clinical services to children and families enrolled in a Boys Town program.
  • Provides counseling and treatment to children and families including assessments, individual, and group and family therapy.
  • Conducts sessions utilizing appropriate interventions generally based on a cognitive behavioral theory.
  • Provides therapy notes, treatment plans, and other documentation in accordance with client record protocols; provides documentation for third party payment.
  • Works collaboratively with consultants in the Boys Town program.
  • Assists in developing individual treatment plans, monitoring, and updating progress reports.
  • Develops and maintains effective working relationships with necessary support services for providing youth and families with therapeutic services.
  • Attends contract meetings and communicates the special qualities of Boys Town to outside consumers as needed.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge of cognitive behavioral therapy along with skill set in motivational interviewing.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels in the organization and with external contacts in an articulate, professional manner while maintaining necessary degree of confidentiality.
  • Skills in diagnoses, treatment, and service planning and ability to apply psychological principles and therapeutic intervention.
  • Ability to adapt responses to situations while maintaining procedural and regulatory integrity.
  • Ability to manage caseloads in an effective and efficient manner while maintaining protocol.
  • Knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation.
  • Ability to analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
  • Knowledge of human behavior, psychological research methods, and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders.
  • Ability to participate collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or related field required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working with adolescents and families required.
  • Working toward licensure required.
  • In CA, registered with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences required.

* Adheres to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising service recipients.

* Reports suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
