Allina Health Neuroscience, Spine & Pain Institute is a comprehensive Neuroscience Institute and is looking for a Behavioral Neurologist/Dementia Specialist to join our growing team. Our quaternary hospital, Abbott Northwestern, is ranked in the Top 50 hospitals in the United States for Neurology/Neurosurgery by US News and World Report.

Key Position Details:

Allina Health Neuroscience, Spine & Pain Institute is a comprehensive Neuroscience Institute seeking a Neurologist with fellowship training in Dementia, Geriatric Neurology, Cognitive Neurology, or Cognitive-Behavioral Neurology or a Neurologist with an interest in Dementia. This position is based at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, MN in a hospital-based clinic. Abbott Northwestern Hospital is the quaternary hospital for Allina Health and is ranked in the Top 50 hospitals in the United States for Neurology/Neurosurgery by US News and World Report.

Job Description:

Principle Responsibilities

  • Diagnoses, treats and consults patients who have impaired memory function or other neurocognitive disease.

  • Examines patient's mental and physical status, conduct medical tests and scans, and evaluate the results to diagnose and treat the patient.

  • Reviews patient's medical history while collecting, prioritizing, and synthesizing comprehensive data pertinent to the patient's health or situation.

  • Evaluates, interprets, and coordinates information to make decisions and recommendations regarding patient care.

  • Provides education, consultation or intervention to patients (treatment plan) and their families.

  • Works collaboratively with patients to improve their health and well-being.

  • Practices in a thoughtful manner including consideration for cultural diversity, individual autonomy and legal responsibilities.

  • Participates in neuroscience research activities.

  • Charts in electronic format in accordance with licensure and scope.

  • Actively participates in multidisciplinary team approach to case management.

  • Responsible for providing care in the outpatient setting.

Quality

  • Utilizes quality improvement tools to develop processes that promote continuous improvement in delivery of patient care, patient outcomes, or work flows.

  • May participate in peer review and quality assurance.

Job Requirements

  • MD, DO, or foreign equivalency training required

  • BE/BC with ABMS or AOA required

  • Fellowship training in Dementia, Geriatric Neurology, Cognitive Neurology, Cognitive-Behavioral Neurology OR strong interest in Dementia required

  • Active, non-restricted medical license in MN (or ability to obtain)

  • Ability to obtain and/or maintain MN DEA certification and National Provider Identifier (NPI)

  • Ability to meet criteria/qualifications for Credentialing and hospital privileges, if applicable

Physical Demands
Medium Work*:
Lifting weight Up to 32 lbs. occasionally (*Allina Safe Patient Moving Policy), Up to 25 lbs. frequently

Pay Range

Pay Range: $320,000 to $361,000 per year The pay described reflects the starting base pay range, assuming a full-time FTE. Your starting rate will depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable).
