$3000 sign-on bonus

I. Major Responsibilities:

1. Provides patient care. Assesses health status, implements care plans, documents interventions and evaluates patient progress following standard procedures.
2. Coordinates patient flow and prepares patient for examination. Takes and records vital signs and EKG's. Documents intake assessment. Assists physician and others in clinical procedures as required or directed. Performs other basic clinical procedures such as venipuncture. Prepares, documents and administers non-intravenous injections as directed.
3. Performs basic office laboratory procedures such as urinalysis, urine culture, hematocrit, sed rate, monospot, pregnancy tests, throat cultures and related procedures. Draws blood as required or directed.
4. Triages medical calls as per office protocol. Returns patient calls and documents in patient record as required or directed. Calls prescription and refills as directed. Document prescription calls.
5. Reviews laboratory results. Ensures abnormal results are brought to the attention of the physicians and others as appropriate.

II. Position Qualifications:

License/Certification/Education:
Required:
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Certification or registration as a Medical Assistant or Medical Office Assistant from ARMA, AAMA, AAHA, AMT, NHA, National Center for Competency Testing or the Monty Technical School.
3. If certification is not available upon hire/transfer, a Medical Assistant credential must be obtained within 12 months from date of hire/transfer. If credentialing is not obtained within 12 months of hire/transfer, the employee will be terminated, or employee may apply for another position for which they meet the minimum qualifications. The VP Operations Community Practices or SVP Community Practices may grant an extended grace period for employees with extenuating circumstances, as appropriate.
4. Once certification is obtained this certification or registration must be maintained.

Preferred:
1. BLS Certification

Experience/Skills:
Required:
1. Knowledge of office and laboratory procedures.
2. Requires MA driver's license and reliable transportation to travel to Community Medical Group sites within a specific area. Must be willing to travel outside assigned region occasionally when required to do so.
3. Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English in a clear and concise manner.
4. Must utilize proper safety techniques and body mechanics in all work related activities.
5. Must have strong interpersonal skills to gather information from individuals, build relationships that support collaborative work within the clinic and provide exceptional service to patients.
6. Must have proven problem-solving abilities for routine situations and request assistance from identified resources when needed.
7. Must be able to remain calm when under stress or in emergency situations.

Preferred:
1. Minimum of three years of relevant experience.
2. Medical terminology and computer skills.

Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.
