Soil Stabilizer Operator

Diamond B Construction, a leading provider of highway, street, road, airport and bridge high quality construction in Louisiana is currently seeking placement for the following position:

Soil Stabilizer Operator to join our crews working around the state of Louisiana and beyond. The stabilizer operator ensures correct steering of equipment for prescribed pathways. Working with ground personnel, the operator ensures correct blade depths are achieved.

Job Duties:

• Ensures safe and accurate operation of the equipment
• Assists in positioning equipment and attachments for installation. Install attachments safely.
• Interprets symbols and markings on stakes. Mark stakes/surface with appropriate symbols or markings, such as location of crown, edge of road.
• Checks for correct depth and adherence to designated path.
• Use safety controls and equipment. Respond to caution, warning, and hazard decals and symbols.
• Adjust to factors affecting safe operation. Maintain stability of equipment.
• Communicate with other personnel to ensure safe operation, adherence to proper depths and accuracy of driving path.
• Knowledge of location and timing for end of pass and works with paver operator to control material volumes.
• Monitor instrument panel and uses sensors to monitor performance, identify equipment and material problems.
• Troubleshoots problems. Identify problems and possible solutions. Communicates to superintendent.
• Position equipment correctly. Adjust operation of equipment to accommodate weather conditions, materials being handled, limitations of equipment and attachments, ground conditions, and stability characteristics of equipment.
• Performing other duties on the jobsite when equipment is not in operation, as to add to efficiency of our overall operation.
• Following all safety policies and PPE use

Safety Requirements:

• Ability to work outdoors in high heat
• Ability to lift and carry weights up to 50 lbs. unassisted
• Ability to walk and stand on uneven surfaces for long periods of time
• Ability to operate designated equipment by safe use of levers, knobs, handles and peddles
• Ability to stoop, bend and climb as needed
• Ability to read, see and understand signs, signals, commands, instruction and safety policies

Experience/Skills Required:

• Previous soil stabilization experience is preferred
• Candidates without milling experience should at least have some knowledge of heavy equipment operation.
• Candidates must have a valid drivers license and good driving record
• Candidates/respondents who do not meet the minimum qualifications will not be considered.
• Position requires overnight travel
