The Behavioral Health Clinician is responsible for the psychological and psychosocial assessments of mental health patients throughout the organization. He/she is responsible for patient placements, referrals, interventions, and planning patient care. The Behavioral Health Clinician works in cooperation with the treatment team. He/she provides services for patients ranging in age from childhood through late adulthood in assigned treatment area.

Responsibilities:

  • Understanding of the DSM-5 and knowledge of diagnosing Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD).
  • Familiar with assessment tools to detect and identify substance use disorders.
  • Strong documentation skills including DAP and group therapy notes
  • Bedside assessment for patients with AUD and advanced liver disease (ALD).
  • Skillful in case presentations to determine eligibility for liver transplantation candidacy.
  • Committee review meeting attendance to determine eligibility for liver transplantation.
  • Experience working with a multidisciplinary team and strong communication skills to maintain role as an addiction specialist.
  • Strong time management skills and the management of caseload up to 24 patients.
  • Facilitate virtual groups, family, and individual therapy for patients.
  • Understanding and referral knowledge of co-occurring disorders.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care.
  • Case Management, resource referral and scheduling intake into inpatient and intensive outpatient treatment.
  • Monitoring patient in IOP or inpatient treatment for liver transplantation candidacy.
  • Continuing education requirements

Care Coordination
Knowledge of the medical, social, economic, and other services provided by other departments or facilities, and the ability to integrate these multidisciplinary treatments for optimal patient care.

Mobilizes both time and resources to get things done.

Healthcare Regulatory Environment
Knowledge and understanding of legislation and regulatory bodies affecting healthcare practices.

Behavioral Therapy Management
Knowledge of behavioral treatment techniques and procedures, ability to assess, manage and ensure high quality behavioral therapy for diverse mental disorders.

Patient Rights
Knowledge of principles and practices associated with the rights and responsibilities of patients and caregivers.

Psychological Counseling
Knowledge of theories and methodologies for psychological counseling, ability to conduct a planned counseling interaction and design a counseling process to facilitate clients progress toward meeting counseling goals and objectives.

Behavioral Health Operations Management
Knowledge of and ability to manage behavioral health departmental operations, including monitoring the development, interpretation and application of behavioral health services and programs as well as operational policies and procedures.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Education:

Masterrsquo;s Degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related human service field
AND
Experience:

Minimum of 1 years in mental health or substance abuse treatment field.

Minimum Certifications, Registration or License Requirements:
LCSW, LPC, LCADC
CPR certification

Additional Information
Ability to perform and document mental health status exam and psychiatric history; crisis intervention skills; strong communication and counseling skills. Working knowledge of the DSM IV and ASAM.

Since this position will require the selected candidate to engage in regular contact with children in the form of care, guidance, supervision or training, you will be required to meet the requirements of the Child Protective Services Act, including the Pennsylvania State Police criminal background check, the Pennsylvania Department of Welfare child abuse criminal background clearance, and an FBI finger print based federal criminal records check. The selected candidate will not be allowed to commence working until all three (3) are completed satisfactorily.
