General Responsibilities
The Strategic Enrollment Communications Manager is a critical part of Howard Community College's ( HCC) Enrollment Services Division creating and overseeing recruitment, admissions, Records, Registration, & VA, Testing and financial aid communications. This position will also work closely with the public relations & marketing department to create social media campaigns, develop content for a variety of channels, support graphic design projects, track data trends, and manage administrative tasks. The SEC Manager will actively market and promote relationship-building activities through electronic correspondence and recruiting events.
The role is responsible for duties related to creative development and direction of student recruitment related communications and marketing collateral and advising campus partners on best practices regarding enrollment related communications. The position will also serve as a resource and a point person for day-to-day operations of communications in the CRM systems. The ideal candidate will be a creatively oriented collaborator, pay strict attention to detail and have strong analytical thinking skills. The ideal candidate will also possess a working knowledge in building communications plans in a CRM or related system tailored for higher education, as well as have experience coding emails in HTML.
Work Performed
* Collaborate with departments and Directors within the student success unit to create and refine enrollment communication strategies.
* Creates enrollment-focused communications strategy to effectively inform students of next steps and requirements at each point in the student enrollment funnel.
* Develop communication plans for successful enrollment of academic programs in coordination with Student Success, Teaching and Learning and other campus partners.
* Identifies new communication needs, including touch points and messages, related to student enrollment and retention.
* Assists with developing content messaging and solicits feedback and revisions from subject matter experts within the respective departments.
* Monitors data related to student communications to determine effectiveness and analyzes data to recommend modifications to existing strategies.
* Attends training, department and division meetings to learn new procedures and practices.
* May work some nights and weekends to support the communication needs of programs that operate outside of standard office hours.
* Write copy, copy edit, and proof recruitment, admissions and financial aid related communications, publications and social media emails, website, and other projects
* Works with PRM to support graphic design needs including print, digital and social media
* Administer admissions and enrollment management social media accounts
* Maintain a clear and consistent brand voice; ensure copy is consistent in style across all executions and aligned with brand standards and product strategies
* Manages Enrollment Services communications calendar.
* Work with PRM to track marketing trends and analyze communication and marketing data on key performance indicators
* Coordinate enrollment-focused texting communications and assist with outbound calling campaigns to prospective students, applicants, and enrolled students, as needed.
* Manage internal enrollment management communication tools
* Coordinate with departments across the college, inventorying stock, and place orders insuring availability of promotional materials
* Identify CRM application related problems and work with the appropriate staff to resolve issues
* Establish and maintain analytics for demonstrating ROI in the utilized CRM
* Collaborate with stakeholders on creating reports and dashboards to track ROI of various recruitment and admission initiatives
* Support ad-hoc requests for data, reports and analysis of enrollment communications from individual program directors
* Assists with special projects and events. Maintains confidentiality of records and security of student information in compliance with laws and policies. Serves on committees as appropriate.

Excellent proficiency required with MS Office; student information systems, Hands on experience developing or creating digital communications and marketing/promotional materials on different platforms for recruitment purposes. Demonstrated experience utilizing a customer relationship management software application ( CRM), (examples: Ellucian Colleague, Recruit and Student Planning, Advise); digital imaging technology; querying or reporting technology (example: Business Objects); Windows, Outlook and e-mail, the college phone and voicemail systems, web and portal applications.
Working Conditions
Extended evening hours during peak periods or in the absence of other staff. A fast-paced, intense internal customer service position involving multiple tasks, which must be handled simultaneously under frequently stressful conditions. Substantial organization and attention to detail required. High volume of work. Problem-solving required. Possible eyestrain due to extended time at computer terminal. Regular attendance is a requirement of this job.

Howard Community College offers competitive salaries, excellent medical and dental selections, tuition reimbursement and paid leave programs. As a participating member of the Maryland Retirement and Pension System, HCC offers two retirement options: The Pension, which requires a 7% employee contribution and The ORP, a 403(b) with a 7.25% employer contribution only. Employees in positions that do not require a bachelor's degree must participate in The Pension. Employees that possess a bachelor's degree and hold professional positions that require a bachelor's degree may choose to participate in either The Pension or The ORP.
