Outpatient Occupational Therapist | Work Hardening

Schedule Weekly Hours:

Gundersen Health System is seeking a full-time Outpatient Occupational Therapist to join our Work Hardening and Business Services team!

What You'll Do:

As an Occupational Therapist, you will evaluate and treat individuals with disabilities, injuries and disease using appropriate modalities and treatment techniques according to Wisconsin OT Standards of Practice. In this role you will primarily focus on work hardening, functional capacity evaluations, and business service needs. Work hardening is an individualized, highly structured program designed to help patients return to their pre-injury work level in a safe and timely manner. It aims to help patients regain their biomechanical, cardiovascular, metabolic, neuromuscular and psychosocial functions in conjunction with their work tasks. It includes strengthening and flexibility exercises, cardiovascular conditioning, spine and joint stabilization exercises and job task training (i.e. pushing, pulling, crouching, lifting, bending, sitting, or twisting). This position will primarily be located in our industrial rehab gym but may also be trained to do business site visits in the area to help with some of our business services offerings.

What's Available:

• Fulltime, 72 hours biweekly (0.9 FTE)

• 8 to 10-hour day shifts, Monday - Friday

• Salary commensurate with your years of work experience

What You'll Need

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy

• Wisconsin Occupational Therapist (OT) License

• Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers

• Ideal candidate would have training and experience with work hardening, functional capacity evaluations, and ergonomics. Experience with Epic is also helpful.

An Occupational Therapist evaluates and treats individuals with disabilities, injuries and disease using appropriate modalities and treatment techniques according to Wisconsin OT Standards of Practice. Works collaboratively with multidisciplinary team in the areas of education and consultation regarding patient care needs, in accordance with the vision and mission of Gundersen Health System.

Major Responsibilities:

1. Works with patient and family members utilizing evaluations and treatment techniques specific diagnostic categories and/or functional impairment. Provide individualized intervention and education utilizing task analysis based on identified learning needs of the patient to ensure optimal patient care.

2. Responsible for completing documentation within established department standards to enhance effective patient care and proper reimbursement.

3. Complies with department competency list.

4. Interact and practice in collaboration with a variety of professionals and health care consumers. Communicate value of Occupational Therapy Services.

5. Participates in departmental and multidisciplinary review of process, treatment or systems issues for Quality Improvement initiatives.

6. Pursues relevant educational opportunities to maintain or enhance professional knowledge and meet departmental needs.

7. Adheres to regular and predictable attendance.
8. Personally interacts, engages with and cares for patients.
9. Ensures patient safety.

10. Performs other job-related responsibilities as assigned.

Education and Learning:

REQUIRED

Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy or a health related field

Work Experience:

REQUIRED

DESIRED

1 year experience in related field

License and Certifications:

REQUIRED

Occupational Therapist - Wisconsin (OT) Current Infant-Adult Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers (with hands on learning) from one of the following programs; American Heart Association or American Red Cross.

OSHA Category:

Category I - All Employees in this job title have a reasonably anticipated risk of occupational exposure to blood and/or other potentially infectious materials.
