JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Department of Mathematics at The Pennsylvania State University (University Park Campus, PA, USA) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant or an Associate Professor position in Mathematics. The position is open to all areas of pure mathematics, including dynamical systems, geometry, geometrical analysis, and algebra. Candidates whose research complements existing strengths or fosters connections within mathematics and across departments are encouraged to apply.

Candidates forAssistant Professormust possess a Ph.D. (or equivalent terminal degree) in Mathematics or a closely related field by the appointment start date; must have demonstrated ability as a teacher or research worker; and must have shown definite evidence of growth in scholarly or professional achievement.

Candidates forAssociate Professormust possess the same qualifications as the assistant professor but must also provide evidence of an established reputation in scholarly or professional achievement.

In addition to research in Mathematics or closely related fields, the position includes teaching in the Mathematics department at the undergraduate and graduate level, and service duties. Applicants will have been awarded a Ph.D. (or equivalent terminal degree) in Mathematics or a closely related field by the appointment start date.

  • A summary of the vision and goals of your research program, potential collaborations and alignment with our department and institution.

  • Your experiences and qualifications that have prepared you to achieve your research goals.

  • A short summary of your most significant accomplishments.

  • Curriculum Vitae

  • Four reference letters, one of which must address your teaching experience and effectiveness in detail.

  • Publication list (if this is not included in your Curriculum Vitae).

  • Research statement: a detailed statement of your research accomplishments and your future research plans (maximum 5 pages).

  • Teaching statement: a statement of your teaching philosophy and interests (maximum 2 pages).

  • Equity, Diversity and Inclusion statement: a statement of your past, present, and/or planned efforts to demonstrate a commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion. (maximum 1 page).

System limitations allow for a total of 5 documents (5mb per document) as part of your application. Please combine materials to meet the 5-document limit.
