Job Summary
The College of Forestry, Wildlife and Environment seeks a Student Service Coordinator who will provide holistic academic advising as well as organize and participate in college-level projects, programs, and activities.

Essential Functions

  • Coordinate activities related to field experiences, internships, and job placement of graduates.
  • Coordinates the development and/or preparation of informational materials relevant to students, alumni, and/or donors such as (but not limited to) updating websites, creating brochures, press releases, or newsletters.
  • Assists with student-related programs and events for the college to include (but not limited to) student orientation, open houses, award ceremonies, career days, oversight of student organizations, etc.
  • Participates in professional development.
  • May also assist with recruitment of prospective students.
  • Advises students in matters related to goals, policies, choice of curriculum, course load, study habits, and course scheduling.
  • Verifies, certifies, and/or completes appropriate student-related forms and processes which may include (but not limited to) class roll, grades, academic certification of athletes/veterans, and forced drops.
  • Maintains student records in accordance with State/Federal laws and University restrictions.
  • Utilizes appropriate technology to support effective advising.
  • Represents the academic unit through participation in university committees, caucus leadership, and/or teaching courses.


Minimum Qualifications


Minimum Qualifications
Degree in Psychology, Counseling, Education, Business, Communications, Parks and Recreation, Conservation Social Science or related field.

Level I- Bachelor's Degree with no experience.

Level II- Bachelor's Degree plus 2 years of experience in advising and/or coordinating student services or experience related to the specific academic area.

Level III- Bachelor's Degree plus 4 years of experience in advising and/or coordinating student services or experience related to the specific academic area.

Substitutions allowed for Experience:

When a candidate has the required education, but lacks the required experience, they may normally apply additional appropriate education toward the experience requirement, at a rate of one (1) year relevant education per year of required experience.

The successful candidate must meet eligibility requirements for work in the United States at the time the appointment is scheduled to begin and continue working legally for the term of employment.

  • Master's degree or process toward a Master's degree from an accredited institution in a relevant discipline.
  • Degree in Parks and Recreation from a COAPRT accredited program or similar field.
  • Experience supervising internships.
  • Experience working in career services.
  • Experience with academic advising in a developmental model.
  • Student services experience at the post-secondary level.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and work independently as well as with a team.
  • Knowledge of advising theory, practices, and procedures.
  • The ability to work with a diverse group of students, faculty, and staff.
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with relevant computer skills, such as Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom, and BANNER.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle
