Your Day-to-Day:

* This engineer will provide miscellaneous plant support functions to support the operations of Wolf Creek Nuclear Power Plant in fulfillment of the Core Design & Safety Analysis (CDSA) function outsourcing arrangement between Evergy (operating company for Wolf Creek) and Westinghouse Electric Company. This support is centered on performing thermal-hydraulic engineering analysis principally for Wolf Creek; however, support for other nuclear power plants will also be required. Primary duties are:

* In support of the CDSA functions at Wolf Creek, perform complex system thermal-hydraulic engineering analysis and provide technical leadership/project management in development, performance, and application of safety analysis methods based upon a broad understanding and working knowledge of PWR NSSS design and safety systems.

Interface with Wolf Creek engineering organizations to develop work scopes and obtain approval for engineering work authorizations as needed to support engineering work activities.

* Obtain and maintain Wolf Creek qualifications to perform calculations as a Safety Analysis Engineer, and 10CFR50.59 Screens and Evaluations.

* Initiate, evaluate, and disposition Condition Reports as required.

* Provide technical input and written documents supporting the design, development, training, performance, and delivery of technical products and services to customers that require integration of team efforts across multifunctional groups. Effectively define, manage, and drive projects to successful completion to meet customer needs.

* Support special requests from site as part of site engineering support. Examples include self-assessments, equipment reliability support, outage emergent issue support, calculation reviews, etc.

* Process vendor documents, such as Westinghouse Letters, NSALs, INs, etc., per site requirements.

* Activities not limited to Wolf Creek; will also be required to apply engineering analysis (transient analysis, setpoints analysis, containment analysis, etc.) to other plants under the Westinghouse QA program

Who You Are:

As a successful candidate, you will bring the following to the team:

* Bachelor's Degree in Nuclear or Mechanical Engineering

* Ability to perform assigned analyses related to the delivery of fuel reloads including fuel core and thermal hydraulic design, Chapter 15 LOCA, non-LOCA, and containment transient analysis.

* Sufficient experience and logic/problem-solving capabilities to apply advanced engineering principles and techniques to propose, direct, and integrate solutions to highly complex (possibly system level), loosely defined technical problems and to identify direct approaches for the successful resolution of significant technical issues. May be required to serve as lead expert within discipline for technical problem solving.

Execute resolution of emergent plant support issues.

* Coordinate and integrate complex technical projects across multi-functional groups, within schedule and budget.

* Develop procedures, processes, and methods for implementing technical requirements.

Specific Desired Proficiencies:

Expertise in the use of standard Thermal-Hydraulic computer codes used to support CPNPP operations, including RETRAN02, VIPRE01, and Westinghouse-specific equivalents.

Familiarity with NRC Regulations and requirements for safety analysis applications (FSAR Chapter 15).

Familiarity with safety analysis computer programs such as FATHOM, RETRAN, MAAP, and GOTHIC or equivalents, for modeling of system response to accident scenarios.

Familiarity with plant operating procedures to aid in determination of plant responses to specific scenarios.

Effective project management skills to direct activities to meet project scope schedule and budget commitments.

Strong communication and writing skills. Must effectively address client needs and be able to create opportunities for safety analysis and licensing business growth
