United Language Group is seeking fluent bilingual speakers as Independent Contractors for on-demand and pre-scheduled over-the-phone interpretations for Quiche, Mixteco The Interpreter must have a strong command of English and target language. They must follow the professional Code of Ethics as outlined by IMIA and NCIHC. Essential Duties + Responsibilities: Interpret between English and Quiche, Mixteco languages. Maintain the appropriate tone of voice, register and observe cultural nuances Maintain professionalism through attitude, and interpreting service Demonstrate excellent customer service skills Must have a reliable phone line and an adequate work environment to process the calls. Remote (work-from-home) Qualifications: Proficient in English and Quiche, Mixteco languages Strong knowledge of professional Code of Ethics and privacy laws (HIPAA) Excellent communication and customer service skills Ability to remain calm and compassionate when dealing with difficult people and crisis situations Flexible availability Preferred Qualifications: NBCMI or CCHI certification is preferred Completion of a healthcare interpretation program or at least 2 years of consistent medical interpretation experience Minimum (12) twelve months experience of over-the-phone interpretation
