Each and every role throughout our organization makes a difference in our ability to change the world for the better. Read further to learn how you could help make great things possible not only in your community, but around the world. In the role of Transportation Planner, we'll count on you to:
- Provide MPO/TPO support - review LRTP, UPWP, TIP and various studies, attend board meetings, TAC meetings, and other meetings.
- Conduct multimodal transportation planning studies.
- Define regional or local transportation planning problems or priorities.
- Collect, assimilate, analyze, and manage project-related data developed through research, interviews, surveys, and other methods.
- Conduct technical analysis involving data analytics, travel demand modeling, GIS, etc.
- Develop GIS and graphic maps conveying complex data through a visual lens. Conduct constraints mapping and maps/documents required by the project.
- Recommend transportation system improvements or projects, based on economic, population, land-use, or traffic projections.
- Conduct growth management/community planning reviews including development proposals, comprehensive plan amendments, sector plans, etc.
- Develop high quality presentations and communicate complex transportation planning concepts in a simple and relatable manner.
- Prepare technical memorandums, reports, and other project deliverables.
- Support community engagement and public information efforts, meetings, and public hearings. Participate in public meetings or hearings to explain planning proposals, to gather feedback from those affected by projects, or to achieve consensus on project designs.
- Collaborate with planners and engineers to research, analyze, or resolve complex transportation planning and design issues.
- Provide in-house staff support to clients up to 4 to 5 days per week
- Perform other duties as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning or relevant field
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task and stay organized. Highly responsive to requests from clients.
- Familiarity with ArcGIS, travel demand modeling, and graphics software
