Description

Under the supervision of the Quality Manager, the Quality Inspector performs complex geometric dimensional inspections on received product, first article, in-process, and finished products, ensuring compliance to specifications.

Requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Approve incoming materials/parts by confirming specifications; conduct visual and measurement tests.
  • Approve in-process production by confirming specifications; conducting visual and cmm inspection to existing programs; communicating required adjustments to production.
  • Approve finished products by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; returning products for re-work; confirming re-work.
  • Document inspection results by completing reports and logs; inputting data into quality database, creating non-conforming material reports.
  • Perform first article inspections and submits results to manufacturing.
  • Accomplish quality and organization mission by completing related results as needed. Take precision measurements and perform complex precision set-ups.
  • Dimensional inspection using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges etc.
  • Generating inspection plans, first article inspection reports and recording measurements.
  • Interpret certifications, detailed blueprints, complex engineering drawings, work orders, engineering specifications, and routing sheets to determine production standards and tolerance limits.
  • Assist in addressing and resolving production problems causing deviations from existing standards.
  • Comply with all quality and safety regulations and procedures (ISO 9000 Compliant).
  • Other duties as assigned.


Requirements

Qualifications:



  • Ability to perform manual layout inspection using height gages and hand tools.
  • Ability to operate manual and/or DCC CMM (PC-DMIS or Calypso). Programming experience is a plus.
  • Ability to operate optical comparator and related peripherals.
  • Understand the care and use of pin gages, thread gages and gage blocks.
  • Understand complex dimensioning systems and can interpret Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerances ("GD&T") symbols.
  • Determine pass/fail on visual criteria under magnification and understands and can operate microscope.
  • Communicate with manager noted deviations from tolerances and quality.
  • Ability to make decisions, communicate effectively and work with others.
  • Ability to be a team player, a self-starter, a problem solver and adaptable.
  • Basic troubleshooting skills a plus.
  • Basic computer and math skills and good reading comprehension ability.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex documents such as blueprints, routings, work orders, engineering specifications, and safety regulations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.


Education and/or Experience:



  • High School diploma or GED or at least5 years related experience or a combination of education and experience.


Physical Demands:



  • Ability to regularly required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls.
  • Ability to frequently walk, talk, or hear.
  • Ability to occasionally sit, stoop, kneel or crouch and occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities to include close and distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
