Job Summary:



The Department of Neurology at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus is seeking to recruit dynamic candidates to expand its clinical and basic science research programs within the Headache/Pain section. We are seeking individuals who are collaborative, communicative, caring, detail-oriented, organized, proactive, able to think critically, focused on quality, dedicated to personal growth, and highly motivated. The position is full-time faculty (rank is determined based on knowledge and experience), with the opportunity for academic promotion, which is determined on criteria of demonstrated excellence in the areas of education, research, clinical care, and community service. Job Responsibilities:

The duties in this faculty position will include teaching, research, and service responsibilities. The overall determination of research and clinical activities and allocation of time and effort will be subject to the determination of the Section Head. This position will diagnosis, treat, and provide management of any head/face pain condition, with a focus on the CSF volume/pressure disorders in our patients.

Clinical duties may include responsibilities at the faculty-level for outpatient services as well as consultations at UCH satellite clinics. Clinical projects may also include developing Headache Medicine Telehealth program and improving collaboration with the Emergency department and the Neurohospitalist section. While on service, obligations will include supervision of medical students, residents, and some fellows, supervision of patient procedures, and teaching of the house-staff as well as students.

Research experience and interest in the applicant is desirable. Participation in current research or developing individual projects with the assistance of established and highly efficient research coordinators group will be encouraged; our Neurology department has approximately 350 ongoing clinical trials and various opportunities for basic science research.

Teaching activities including attending neurology services, leading teaching conferences and training medical students, residents, and fellows.

Administrative responsibilities will include data entry into hospital systems, development of critical pathways, committee work and projects aimed at improving the specialty and department mission. It is assumed the bulk of this non-clinical time will be spent working toward the production of scholarship activities. Attendance at meetings and educational events of the department and specialty programs is expected. Other duties may be assigned as need arises.

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.

This position will work in the Headache section within the Department of Neurology, which currently has 6 MD's, 1 Fellow and 5 APP's. This is an outpatient position, providing direct care to our patients with headache disorders, focused on those associated with low or high cerebrospinal fluid pressure. The MD engages closely with colleagues across the Department of Neurology, University of Colorado Hospital, and other satellite locations.

The Headache section program's close collaborators include the University of Colorado Hospital's (UCH) state -of-the-art Neuroradiology, also Neurosurgery, Pain/Spine clinic, shared Infusion clinic, among others. We also work together with the excellent Headache clinic at the Colorado Children's hospital to assure smooth transition of adolescents with headache to adult care. We offer comprehensive patient care including an extensive referral network for cognitive behavioral therapy, biofeedback, psychiatry, pain management, Wellness center. In office procedures include Botox injections, nerve blocks, trigger point injections, sphenopalatine ganglion blocks. Our Headache Medicine fellowship was accredited by UCNS in 2014.

This is an open rank position and could be categorized as Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor based on experience and qualifications as indicated below:

Assistant Professor



  • Board certified Neurologist
  • MD or DO
  • A state of Colorado medical license and DEA license must be obtained on or before hire date
  • Completed Headache fellowship training
  • Applicants must have a scholarly and academic record consistent with appointment at the Assistant Professor level in the School of Medicine
  • Experience in an academic hospital setting


Associate Professor



  • Board Certified Neurologist
  • MD or DO
  • A state of Colorado medical license and DEA license must be obtained on or before hire date
  • Completed Headache fellowship training
  • Applicants must have a scholarly and academic record consistent with appointment at the Associate Professor level in the School of Medicine
  • Experience in an academic hospital setting


Professor



  • Board Certified Neurologist
  • MD or DO
  • A state of Colorado medical license and DEA license must be obtained on or before hire date
  • Completed Headache fellowship training
  • Applicants must have a scholarly and academic record consistent with appointment at the Professor level in the School of Medicine
  • Experience in an academic hospital setting


Preferred Qualifications:



  • A record of previous or current research funding
  • Eligible to obtain other states' unrestricted medical licenses, if necessary

Anticipated Pay Range:



The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:



  • Assistant Professor $195,000-$210,000
  • Associate Professor $200,000-$242,000
  • Professor $220,000-$300,000


The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
