Job Description
At IPS, we are global leaders in developing innovative solutions for the consulting, architecture, engineering, project controls, procurement, construction management, and CQV of technically complex facilities, primarily in the life sciences industry. We are looking for a talented Project Manager II to join our dedicated team at our office located in Emeryville, California. In this role, you will provide leadership on assigned projects and act to achieve financial, schedule, and client relationship objectives. You will also plan and organize all engineering functions specific to the project, coordinate client interaction between the project team and client, and provide guidance on recommended manpower and technical resource loading. Additional Responsibilities
- Project Size: Up to $15MM.
- Holds primary responsibility for the achievement of scope, cost, schedule, and quality objectives on assigned projects.
- Ensures achievement of corporate goals for assigned projects.
- Attends pre-bid meetings with clients and prepares proposals in conjunction with department heads, directors, and other key individuals.
- Actively develops, with minimum assistance, in Design budget development.
- Manages client interaction on assigned projects and promotes positive relationships.
- Identifies risks to the project and corporation and works with Project Executives and Director of Operations to mitigate risks.
- Responsible for project scope control and development/communication of all change notices (SAN) to the client.
- Leads project teams of their own or led by others to a successful conclusion.
- Searches for new opportunities and initiates action.
- Has developed an understanding of how to delegate work.
- Coordinates with project discipline leads to determine scope, complexity, and planning
- and scheduling requirements of the projects.
- Develop and maintain meeting minutes and Action Items/Needs List for each project.
- Develops and Maintains Project Execution Plan.
- Prepares internal monthly financial/schedule reports for the Director of Operations for each project.
- Prepares monthly financial/schedule reports for the Client as requested by the client.
- Enhances and facilitates project team communication and coordination.
- Responsible for management of all sub-consultants on the project.
- Must have the ability to run multiple simultaneous large projects.
- Maintains personal competency in relevant professional areas.
- Maintains long-term industry relationships
- Assists in identifying, and developing innovative methods for improving project management processes and techniques against current SOPs.
- Strives for continuous improvement in all internal processes.
- Provides guidance and mentorship to less experienced Project Managers and Project Engineers
- Accepts responsibility for things not under direct control.
- Sees things going wrong and corrects them before problems arise.
- Identify areas of potential Innovation and improvement for the group.
- Other duties as assigned.
The salary offered for this role is between $118,131 - $214,099, but actual salary offered is dependent on experience, skill set and education.
Qualifications & Requirements
- A minimum of 8 years of industry experience at least five (5) of which includes Project Management experience.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, or planning.
- A minimum of 2 years of Pharmaceutical/GMP project experience
- Progressive ability, capacity, and aptitude in administration to plan, organize, supervise, and coordinate technical work and to obtain cooperation with others.
- Fundamental level of scheduling skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Analytical thinking, structured problem-solving skills, excellent communication skills, team building, and strong work ethic.
- Must be able to build rapport with project staff.
- Skilled in the use of IT tools, including spreadsheets, word processing, planning, and scheduling software.
- Understanding of Earned Value and other project controls methods.
- Promotes Safety and adheres to IPS and client Safety policies.
Context & Safety
- Travel duration, if any, is based on project complexity and location.
This position is a safety-sensitive position. - The employee is designated for field work and attends activities at client sites where they work in construction, process, packaging, manufacturing, research, or other "non-administrative" areas.
