Job Description Summary
Under the direction of the Director of Counseling Services, the Mental Health Counselor/Clinical Supervisions and Training Coordinator, Student Wellness Center will provide short-term counseling to students on a variety of issues, assist with development of outreach opportunities, and work with the counseling interns.

Responsibilities
Responsible to model the University Mission through dedicated job performance, service excellence to constituencies, respectful collaboration and active support of the University's Mission and Catholic and Lasallian higher education.

-Provide short-term individual counseling to students on a variety of issues impacting the student's academic success or quality of life.
-Conduct training and clinical supervision for graduate level counseling interns
-Plan and facilitate clinical group supervision for counseling team (interns and staff). Coordinate with Director on planning for staffing and training implementation as needed.
-Oversee the development and provision of group therapy opportunities.
-Maintain relationships with outside resources in order to facilitate appropriate referrals for students as needed
-Provide on-call response and consultation/supervision to staff in the absence of the Director of Counseling Services and as requested
-Maintain appropriate clinical documentation for client, consultation and clinical intern supervision contacts.
-Offer crisis intervention services to students in distress.
-Participate in emergency preparedness planning/training as required.
-Offer consultation/training to Lewis University departments/staff/community on prevention/response to critical student concerns and to prevent suicide or threats.
-Support the design and implementation of issue-based/evidenced-based psycho-educational/outreach programming to students. Collaborate with Health Services staff, Project Director for Prevention, Student Wellness Coordinator, Student Life Committee and Wellness on programming to support community.
-May serve in confidential advising role as directed and in compliance with the Illinois Higher Education Act to students who are victims of gender-based violence
-Participate on campus committees and boards as approved by supervisor.
-Participate in weekly or bi-monthly individual and group supervisory meeting/s
-Provide consultation with collaborating campus departments, faculty and staff.
-Assist in planning for present and future clinical mental health services and utilization of best practice and evidence-based treatment models and initiatives.
-Adhere to policies of the Center and University.
-Adhere to ethics of the American Counseling Association.
-Provide other assigned functions as appropriate that contribute to the service offerings of the Center and mission of the University.
-Must maintain appropriate malpractice and liability insurance.

60% mental health counseling role (individual, group), 15% supervision, training and consultation, 15% community involvement (outreach/training/committees) 5% additional administrative/planning, 5% back-up clinical/urgent care or on-call support for Director.
Minimum Qualifications
Completed graduate degree program in Counseling or related discipline. Minimum of four years of clinical mental health counseling experience. Current second level licensure, i.e., LCPC under the State of Illinois Department of Professional Regulation is required. Completion of mandatory clinical supervision trainings as required for licensure; experience providing clinical supervision preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of college student development theories and practice. Demonstrated experience providing clinical experience with a wide range of presenting issues, including assessment, managing risk and treatment of serious mental health concerns (i.e., suicide risk assessment). Must demonstrate knowledge and skill in the area of crisis intervention, trauma informed response to gender based violence, program development, consultation, and outreach. Must present demonstrated competence with multicultural and other diverse populations. If requested to serve in a campus confidential advisory role for Title IX - must complete 40 hour training in sexual violence pertaining to role.
Preferred Qualifications
Five years plus counseling experience. Provision of clinical supervision experience and experience working with college students in university-setting highly preferred.

Work hours
This is a salaried full-time exempt position. Daily scheduling flexibility determined by departmental needs and role in support to campus community. Additional service may be indicated in case of an emergency or crisis situation.
