Mechanical Applications Engineer III

Applications Engineering within the Custom Automation Equipment Industry is typically focused on the development of competitive technical solutions to Customer Requirements for custom automated Equipment. Summary Requirements of the Level III Applications Engineering role typically include, but are not limited to:

• Gaining a thorough understanding of the Customer Specifications, Requirements and existing Pain Points.

• Develop and Define cost competitive, capable, Technical Solutions that meet Internal & External Customer Requirements.

• Apply Practical Conformance to the JRA Applications Engineering Corporate Practices, Procedures and Tools.

• Provide Cross Functional Team Support for Projects for which you were the assigned AE.

• Ensure conformance to "As Sold" Scope of Work.

• Aid in the Mentorship of Less Experienced Apps Engineers, Co-ops & Interns.

• Similar Job Requirements to that of a Level II AE with higher/greater levels of Practical AE & Leadership Experience.

Responsibilities of the Position:

• Qualify incoming opportunities to ensure alignment with forecast and financial metrics.

• Review customer technical specifications and requirements for the development of System Concepts, Costs, Risk Assessments, and Proposal Documents that define the content and functionality of the proposed Scope of Work.

• Apply Practical Conformance to the JRA Corporate Practices, Procedures and Tools, specifically those developed for the use and function of the Applications Engineering Department.

• Coordinate and execute large multi-business unit quotes.

• Manage core customers.

• Generate & Render Conceptual Solutions for Customer problems which may have no previous or standard solutions in various formats (PowerPoint, AutoCAD, Creo, SolidWorks or Visual Components)

• Facilitate Concept Brainstorming, leading docket review meetings with little need of higher level AE support

• Prepare, schedule and facilitate preliminary/final concept meetings with technical information. Reviews shall be conducted with little to no support of higher AE.

• Develop Proposals that; clearly and completely defined the proposed Scope of Work, the Rate of Production, outlines the Machine Buy-off requirements, identifies Customer Part requirements thru all Project Phases, and includes appropriate Assumptions and Exceptions to the proposed Scope of Work.

• Support Account Managers by attending customer visits and ensuring pain points and competitive advantages are leveraged into the proposals.

• Travel independently or with an Account Manager.

• Able to present in meetings independently with functional teams, upper management, or customers.

• Maintain assignment-specific AE related fields in company CRM.

• Schedule and facilitate Project KickOff Meetings for PEP.

• Support functional team members associated with a project by facilitating required Tollgate Meetings for awarded work and consulting with the PM for scope variation.

• Attend early Phase Project Design Reviews to ensure conformance to "As Sold" Scope of Work.
