The standard work schedule will be Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm during the Academic Year.

7:00am - 6:00pm during the Summer Months

This position offers remote work allowing employees a combination of onsite and work from home options. The expected remote work schedule for this position will be based upon the needs of the department.

Job Summary

Working within a learning college environment, this position in the Financial Aid Office performs technically complex financial aid processing, including awarding federal student aid. Reviews reports and assists in various areas of Federal Student Aid and scholarship programs to ensure program compliance. Is responsible for coordinating with various student services areas and assists with policies and procedures. Performs customer service to students through online chat, phone calls and supporting our students at the financial aid counter. Provide outreach regarding student services areas to include financial aid by counseling students about eligibility and required documents. Work with a diverse population of administrators, faculty, staff, students, and the general public. Also, other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions

30% - Reviews student files verifying application for accuracy and completeness; requests additional information in compliance with federal and state laws; reviews various exception reports on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. Monitors student's enrollment daily, weekly for disbursement of funds or changes to FA package, processes FA documents

25% - Performs technically complex Title IV processes including review of financial aid applications, packaging student financial aid inclusive of; verification, budget proration's, awarding, authorization of funds, corrections to ISIRs, post award adjustments, etc.

15% - Assists in analyzing/interpreting regulations for financial aid programs and responds to inquiries requiring detailed knowledge of regulations and policies from internal and external customers.

10% - May evaluate and take action on student appeals, conduct FA presentations to student groups regarding financial aid/scholarship resources and policies and provide general clerical assistance.

10% - Assists with administering financial aid programs such as student employment, loan programs; reviews office practices and procedures; may assist in training of students, staff, and temporaries; performs other duties as assigned.

10%- Performs functions of student services programs including student advisement, admissions and records, and financial aid assistance. Provides customer service to both students and parents in person and via the telephone on all areas with the ability to explain regulations and policies confidently.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited institution, and one (1) year full-time of student services or college teaching experience or experience assisting with educational program development and coordination, student advisement, financial aid, or related student development programs.

OR

An equivalent combination of education and/or directly related work experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the position, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.

Desired Qualifications

A. Two (2) or more years of experience in a financial aid office with knowledge in federal and State aid regulations, programs, compliance, policies, and student financial aid guidelines
B. Direct experience in packaging and manually authorizing student financial aid in compliance with federal and state laws
C. Experience with customer service and counseling students and parents on financial aid regulations, institutional policies, and financial aid award inquiries
D. Experience with various computer software specific to financial aid, proficient in National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS), Common Origination and Disbursement (COD), FAFSA Partner Portal (FPP), and processing financial aid in a student information system SIS.

Special Working Conditions

Must not be in default or overpayment of federal financial aid funds. Possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D driver's license is required; must meet minimum standards regarding driving: http://www.maricopa.edu/legal/rmi/vehicle.htm#requirements. Travel to campus during interview/selection process will be at candidate's own expense. Will be required to travel or be assigned to all MCCCD locations. May require numerous evenings or weekends. May require prolonged periods of viewing a computer screen. May be required to lift or carry up to #25 lbs.
