We're looking for a high-impact leader to build and drive our Global Modernization Factory-an elite team responsible for accelerating enterprise transformation with Services as a Software.

This is a build-and-scale role for a proven leader in application modernization consulting. You will own the strategy, execution, and impact of a high-performing consulting practice, delivering measurable business outcomes for customers through field-developed, AI-powered modernization tooling. Your mission: build the best, engineering-first modernization practice in the industry, delivering application and platform transformation at scale.

This is not a status quo role. We need a builder, a problem solver, and a business leader-someone who thrives at the intersection of technical depth, customer strategy, and execution. This role can be based out of our offices in NYC, Austin, Boston or remotely in Eastern & Central time zones of the United States.


What You Will Do

  • Build & Scale a Best-in-Class Modernization Business


    • Establish MongoDB's Modernization Factory as a competitive force, delivering measurable value for enterprises shifting away from legacy platforms
    • Develop and scale a services as a software business model-continuously building and improving AI-powered tooling, frameworks, automation, and playbooks to accelerate application transformation
    • Collaborate closely with a cross-functional go-to-market team for global practice strategy, execution, and impact, ensuring engagements directly contribute to MongoDB's growth and customer success
    • Drive innovation and repeatability-creating playbooks, methodologies, and intellectual property that differentiate our modernization services


  • Own Customer Outcomes & Execution Excellence


    • Lead a team of modernization experts-architects, developers, and leaders to deliver high-impact engagements for the world's most complex enterprises
    • Partner with MongoDB's GTM field teams to drive expansion and upsell, increasing MongoDB's footprint through successful modernization engagements
    • Get in the trenches-roll up your sleeves when needed to solve tough technical, delivery, and commercial challenges alongside your team
    • Establish a culture of accountability-ensuring customer engagements deliver on scope, budget, and business objectives


  • Develop & Lead a High-Performance Team


    • Recruit, develop, and retain top-tier talent-hiring leaders and practitioners who bring deep modernization experience and a builder's mindset
    • Foster an engineering-first culture-where leaders stay close to the technology and delivery teams are encouraged to solve problems through software innovation
    • Create a structured career growth and capability-building program, ensuring continuous development and scalability of the practice


  • Drive MongoDB's Modernization Strategy & Influence the Future of Professional Services


    • Shape MongoDB's modernization roadmap, collaborating with Product, Engineering, and GTM leadership to influence offerings and customer value
    • Be a thought leader in modernization-evangelizing best practices, contributing to industry discussions, and positioning MongoDB as the go-to platform for application modernization
    • Ensure seamless integration between GTM field teams to maximize revenue, customer success, and adoption



What We're Looking For

  • Proven leader in building, scaling, and running an application modernization practice at a leading systems integrator or high-growth software company
  • 15+ years in consulting or professional services, with 5+ years leading modernization practices, delivering large-scale engagements
  • Deep technical knowledge of enterprise software architectures, cloud migration, application modernization, DevOps, and AI-driven transformation
  • Business acumen + technical depth-comfortable discussing P&L, GTM strategies, and revenue impact, while also engaging deeply in technical problem-solving
  • Hands-on leader-not afraid to dive into complex challenges, whether related to technical, delivery, or commercial situations
  • Proven track record of hiring, developing, and leading high-performing teams
  • Experience managing enterprise-scale customer relationships, including navigating escalations, influencing stakeholders, and driving customer success
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with Sales, Product, Customer Success, and Engineering to ensure the Modernization Factory is a business accelerant
  • Bias for action-comfortable making bold decisions in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment

MongoDB's base salary range for this role is posted below. Compensation at the time of offer is unique to each candidate and based on a variety of factors such as skill set, experience, qualifications, and work location. Salary is one part of MongoDB's total compensation and benefits package. Other benefits for eligible employees may include: equity, participation in the employee stock purchase program, flexible paid time off, 20 weeks fully-paid gender-neutral parental leave, fertility and adoption assistance, 401(k) plan, mental health counseling, access to transgender-inclusive health insurance coverage, and health benefits offerings. Please note, the base salary range listed below and the benefits in this paragraph are only applicable to U.S.-based candidates.

$250,000 $360,000 USD
