Position Information
This position will serve South Washington County Schools, Newport Elementary School. This position works 7 hours/day. This is a long term substitute position with the potential to become full time. Starting hourly pay is $28.74. Employees with interpreter certification will receive an additional $4.30 per hour. Nature of Work Incumbents are responsible for facilitating communication between the deaf/hard of hearing students and staff and peers in the educational settings, and other activities. Typical Class Responsibilities
Training and Experience Requirements Associate degree (A.S., A.A.) or two-year technical certificate in Sign Language Interpreting. Licensing Requirements Certifications recognized by RID and/or MN Department of Education preferred including CT, CI, NIC, NAD or EIPA. Knowledge Requirements
Skill Requirements
Physical Requirements Positions in this class typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, and seeing. Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work.
