As a LEU+ Technical LeadElectrical Engineer you will be responsible for developing systems and preparing electrical distribution project deliverables based on process and facility specifications across the project and product life-cycle. This includes development of specifications, functional requirements, designs and schematics, selection of components, engineering/procurement/construction support and installation/commissioning of electrical distribution systems. You will create detailed specifications, datasheets, equipment lists, one-line diagrams, electrical schematics, power distribution center and panel schedules, termination drawings, hook-up drawings, layout drawings, and material requisitions. You will be highly motivated, able to work independently, and have demonstrable leadership qualities. You will be confident in your own ability to deliver the project on time and within budget. Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
- Develop functional requirements specifications, project procedures, equipment data sheets, system requirements
- Specify and evaluate electrical engineering services for the design of electrical power systems, cabling, lighting, HVAC, motor control centers, MV and LV switchgear, transformers, power generators, motors, variable speed drives, and UPS systems.
- Develop designs and schematics
- Select electrical distribution components for medium and low voltage systems.
- Ensure that all electrical design changes are captured by the change control process.
- Participate in risk Process Hazards Analysis, HAZOP, and LOPA as electrical system subject matter expert
- Provide technical input during design phase,
- Develop specification and prepare material requisitions for power distribution systems and other components
- Participate in design and engineering reviews
- Perform calculations e.g. for arc flash potential, load balancing, component sizing, etc.
- Install and commission power distribution systems including MCCs, transformers, switchgear, VFDs, UPS, power generators, automatic transfer switches, building management systems, lighting systems, etc.
- Liaise with and manage interfaces with other engineering disciplines; process, instrumentation and controls, mechanical, piping etc. advise the Engineering Manager of any major slippages and their causes, major technical problems and unresolved differences with other Groups
- Ensure that the applicable specifications and standards are applied across all aspects of electrical delivery to the Project
- Assist in the development of equipment qualification test procedures, evaluate test results, and review final reports
- Attend site during construction and commissioning phase when required.
- Provide electrical Engineering technical support
- Take ownership of electrical technical queries to ensure satisfactory resolution.
- Interface with vendor/supplier engineering representatives, establish and maintain a project repository of project documents
- Deliver documentation that is technically correct to the required standard and schedule
- meet the requirements of the agreed schedule identified within the project plan for the electrical system deliverables as assigned by the Engineering Manager
- Monitoring of all on site activities including installation, commissioning, site acceptance testing (SAT), and factory acceptance testing (FAT)
- Engage with any other activities that would be realistically required of the role.
As a successful candidate, you will bring the following to the team:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering is required
- Minimum 10 years of applicable engineering experience required
- Previous experience in specialty chemical, petrochemical, API pharmaceutical, or nuclear industry is highly desired.
- Good working experience with NEC and NFPA 70E
- Full electrical system project life cycle experience.
- Experience in preparation and reviewing full electrical system project documentation including functional descriptions, specifications, one-line diagrams, electrical schematics, P&IDs and others.
- The ability to produce technical reports, and able to clearly explain complex technical electrical system related issues.
- The ability and willingness to travel domestic and international to perform vendor evaluations, completing site acceptance tests (SAT) and conduct inspections/audits. Expected travel less than 20%
- The ability to engage with, and influence, a team of professionals
- US Citizenship required; Must live or have ability to relocate near Columbia, SC
