Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Engineering leader to manage the Enterprise Configurator at U.S. Motors, a Business Platform of Nidec, a leading industrial manufacturer of electric motors. This role requires a dynamic individual with a strong background in management, engineering, and complex industrial product configuration processes.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate a team responsible to execute all variable BOM configuration projects using various systems, BOM documentation as well as product specification and internal business processes, fostering a culture of technical excellence, continuous learning, and innovation. Invest in the professional development of direct reports including coaching, performance reviews, and long-term career guidance.
  • Hands-on team management capability with a proactive problem-solving attitude in order to provide guidance and solutions to the team, help configurator engineers accomplish tasks accurately and on time, and assist with identifying risks and solutions to stay on schedule.
  • Align various legacy business processes and systems to ensure development of business processes, systems, and KPIs to allows the company to measure and resolve issues around BOM configuration quality and execution timeliness.
  • Contribute to a large software implementation project to create accurate product configurations that meet marketing, engineering, finance and operations specifications. This includes creation of business processes linking various BOM lifecycle tools such as PLM, ERP, and order entry systems, in order to manage configuration system implementation, priorities, approval processes and timelines.
  • Collaborate with engineering, product management, supply chain and master data team for Bill of material configuration and management to reduce complexity and parts duplication.
  • Remain abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance configuration, BOM, and item master data processes, tools, and methodologies.
  • Enforce strict data security and compliance standards to protect company data.

Additional Job Details

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, EE or ME preferred
  • Experience: 3 years in Engineering or Analysis-related environment. 5+ years working experience in BOM management with experience in managing maintenance and creation of variable BOM configuration preferred. 5+ years experience in manufacturing industry, configurable products, electrical equipment/electric motors preferred.
  • Technical Expertise: Proven experience with Configure, Price, Quote (CPQ) applications operating in a cloud environment.
  • Skills:
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    • Query and scripting
    • MS Office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint) proficiency
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
    • Ability to manage physically dispersed teams and multi-site operations

Preferred:

  • Advanced degree or certifications (e.g., PMP, Masters degree) preferred.
  • Expertise in Oracle CPQ solutions.
  • Understanding of industrial manufacturing processes, continuous improvement, safety, quality processes, cost, purchasing, engineering etc.
