St. Paul Academy and Summit School seeks candidates for the position of Boy's Head Varsity Tennis Coach.

About St. Paul Academy and Summit School:

St. Paul Academy and Summit School (SPA) is a coeducational, non-sectarian, college preparatory day school serving more than 920 students in kindergarten through grade 12. Our two campuses are located approximately a mile apart in St. Paul, Minnesota, serving Grades K-5 on our Goodrich Campus and Grades 6-12 on our Randolph Campus. The school draws students from St. Paul, Minneapolis, and throughout the eastern and western suburbs.

Position Begins: March, 2025

Status: Part-time, seasonal

Department: Athletics

Position Description:

This position will serve as the Head for the SPA Boy's Tennis Program and will be responsible for coaching the Boys Varsity tennis team. Included in this position is the coaching, management and support of assistant coaches and program development for all levels.

Candidates will be required to demonstrate strong effective organizational and communication skills with students, parents, and administration. A qualified candidate should have coaching experience in a competitive environment and in a state association like the MSHSL. Candidates should support the mission of SPA and be able to support/contribute to student athlete life outside athletics.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:




  1. Creating a positive environment that promotes good sportsmanship



  2. Working closely with the US and MS Athletic Director to build a coaching staff of qualified coaches



  3. Implementing well-organized and structured practices



  4. Coordinating competition schedules with the US Athletics Director



  5. Working with the athletics administrative assistant in scheduling transportation



  6. Maintaining accurate records and other required paperwork (rosters, schedules, physicals, results, records and individual and team accolades)



  7. Providing effective supervision and evaluation of all players



  8. Creating a rapport with the greater community, generating interest in the program



  9. Recognizing the contributions of all; impressing upon the athletes and parents that their efforts are valued, while creating a positive team culture



  10. Participating as a positive team member in the Athletics Department supporting program excellence and development
