Certified by the Green Restaurant Association, the PantherDining Hall at Georgia State University is seeking to hire a Kitchen Mechanic.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

This position will work under the direction of the manager to perform plumbing, refrigeration, electrical, electronic and mechanical preventative maintenance, work independently on kitchen equipment such as dishwashers, freezers, fryers, disposals, pumps, motors, ovens, compressors and etc. Inspect, repair and/or replaces used and defective parts, adjusts, lubricates, and cleans functional parts. Installs or relocated equipment and performs related work as required. Develops and adheres to operational procedures in assigned areas of responsibility, protects Dining's capital investments by maintaining and prolonging the usefulness of food service equipment and facilities through preventative maintenance.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:



  • Continuously executes the Dining Services' Preventative Maintenance (PM) program, to include all commercial kitchen appliances, heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration components, including HVAC-R controls and domestic and radiant hot water systems, using troubleshooting skills.
  • Manages materials, parts, and equipment needed for the PM program, including inventory tracking, record keeping, product research, and supply procurement.
  • Maintains tools, equipment, and a clean work area.
  • Performs repairs quickly for minimum downtime.
  • Flexibility in working schedule to provide service to all units.
  • Creates and executes repairs and repair plans for all PantherDining locations across campus, in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Adheres to set guidelines and time schedule for performing repairs.
  • Effectively communicates and coordinates with internal and external project participants to ensure that all parties are well-informed and that work proceeds on schedule with minimal impact to University operations.
  • Tags and maintains accurate maintenance reports for all equipment with PantherDining.
  • Works with Property Control to ensure labeling is up to date.
  • Researches and reports all costs associated with repairs and maintains budget expectations for all repairs and maintenance.
  • Follows up on billing and receivables to and from all units.
  • Maintains accurate Purchase Card transactions and vehicle in accordance with University and State Guidelines.
  • Maintains required trade-specific training and certifications and obtains further training as needed.
  • Participates in continuous department process improvements.
  • Performs regular administrative tasks such as file maintenance, processing paperwork, entering data, and monitoring systems.
  • Represents and promotes the interests and mission of Auxiliary and Support Services in assigned areas of responsibility in various assignment and among a broad-based constituency.
  • Consistently promotes excellent customer service.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications :

Minimum Requirements:



  • High school diploma or GED and four years of experience working with commercial kitchen equipment. Refrigerant certification preferred or ability to obtain certification within six months of employment.
  • Must have a valid GA driver's license.


Preferred Requirements:



  • HVACR Certification
  • EPA Certification
  • Electrical/Plumbing Experience
  • Experience with Commercial Kitchen Equipment
  • Knowledge of Safety Regulations
  • Physical Requirements: Extended standing, walking, ability to bend, stoop, reach and climb ladders.
  • Ability to lift 35 pounds.
  • Ability to work in all temperature conditions.
  • Flexible schedule to include nights and weekends.
