HDR is consistently ranked by ENR as one of the top Waste Management firms in America. HDR's Waste program is looking for an EIT or Designer to join the team and help support a dynamic workload of planning, design, and construction projects. The right candidate will have a strong interest in how waste is generated, reduced, reused, recycled, recovered and ultimately managed through collection, transfer, processing, and disposal facilities. EITs/Designers may also support remediation and brownfield projects, in addition to Phase I Environmental Site Assessments. This position is based in our Greenville, South Carolina office. Primary Responsibilities In the role of Environmental EIT/Designer, we'll count on you to:
- Assist Senior Engineers in waste and environmental remediation projects that include landfill and transfer facility design and implementation, and assessment and remedial design of contaminated sites
- Perform routine environmental, civil, or construction engineering assignments requiring application of standard techniques and procedures; perform routine environmental sampling activities, as needed
- Complete projects that have clear, specified objectives
- Perform administrative duties associated with project management for waste and environmental remediation projects
- Work independently on small projects, or assist more-senior engineers/geologists on larger projects
- Complete duties requiring field work and travel as needed
- Perform other duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate
- Candidates without their EIT certification will have the title of Designer and will be expected to obtain their EIT certification within 12 months.
- HAZWOPER 40 hour training
- Proficient in MS Office products including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with AutoCAD and Civil3D preferred.
- Experience with civil or construction engineering on Solid Waste Projects such as landfills, transfer stations, or recycling facilities preferred.
- Familiarity or experience with Phase I Environmental Site Assessments and other assessment/remediation projects, including design of passive and active treatment systems.
- Ability to perform administrative duties associated with project management for civil/site projects
- Ability to assist multiple disciplines in the preparation of construction level design documents.
- Preference given to local candidates.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering or closely related Engineering field
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
