Join the HJF Team! HJF is seeking an experienced Director of Program Management to oversee complex international clinical research portfolio supporting infectious diseases. This critical senior clinical project management position will engage across a large contingency of stakeholders and multiple sites with responsibility to ensure timely execution of milestones for the entire life-cycle of the assignments. This position will be in support of the Global Infectious Diseases portfolio. The Henry M. Responsibilities
- Supervises a team of project managers that coordinate implementation of complex domestic and international clinical trials and observational studies related to the characterization of infectious diseases and the testing of interventions to prevent and treat infectious diseases as part of the Global Infectious Diseases portfolio of HJF.
- Supervises senior project managers. Anticipates and coordinates Project Management group structure and staffing needs, determines and assigns types of jobs/duties needed, requests personnel actions, makes selections for appointments, counsels employees relative to work and administrative matters, assists employees in career planning, develops work performance standards and periodically evaluates employee performance. Takes corrective actions as needed.
- Assesses risks to project performance, develops and implements risk mitigation strategies, and monitors outcomes of clinical, laboratory, and translational research projects in the Global Infectious Diseases portfolio.
- Provides oversight of department standard operating procedures ensuring policies are maintained, disseminated and adjusted for continual process improvement. Adjusts priorities and resource allocation based on program performance data.
- Oversees the development and submission of research proposals to external funding agencies such as the National Institutes of Health, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program, US Agency for International Development, and other such entities to support and expand the Global Infectious Diseases portfolio.
- Manages the process for collaboration agreements and liaises with Technology Transfer and Office of Sponsored Programs to draft and execute all such agreements as necessary to execute the clinical research mission.
- Represents the Project Management group as a liaison, advocate, and manager to coordinate activities with the Clinical Operations Office (COO), Data Coordinating and Analysis Center (DCAC), International Laboratory Program (INLAP), and other stakeholder entities to collectively support execution of the Global Infectious Diseases portfolio.
- Oversees strategic planning efforts. Works with project stakeholders to ensure detailed business and technical requirements are defined to ensure success in the program. Provides metrics and analysis to support forward-looking decision-making based on data.
- Manages a complex portfolio of projects. Develops and manages program plans from inception to deployment, applying project management methodology and enforcing best practice standards. Establishes and manages cost, schedule, and performance baselines or programs.
- Looks at key Program policies and seeks to identify opportunities to streamline and drive operational efficiencies from recommended changes.
- May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Direct Supervisor: Direct authority to make decisions on the following: employee hiring, disciplinary action, starting salaries and merit increases; conduct employee performance evaluations and directs work activities.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree required in Public Health or Life Science preferred.
- More than 10 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to clearly communicate verbally and in writing, build and maintain teams, and identify and resolve problems.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced & deadline driven team environment.
- Organized, self-motivated, detail oriented, with highly developed financial & Program management skills.
- Ability to work independently, use sound judgement in solving complex problems and coordinate many multifaceted processes and programs simultaneously and under short time-lines.
- Strong leadership skills, knowledge of project management principles, and excellent communications customer/client relationship and people management skills.
- Knowledge of clinical regulatory processes.
- Experience with clinical trials including vaccines, therapeutics and/or cohort studies for infectious disease indications.
- Experience leading highly complex project teams with multiple stake holders.
- Experience with Smartsheet and/or other project management-based software systems.
- Supervisory experience.
- Experience in planning, creation and submission of proposals and agreements.
Work Environment
- This position will take place primarily in an office setting with flexible telework. Some international travel may be required.
Compensation
- The annual salary range for this position is $120,600 - $180,000. Actual salary will be determined based on experience, education, etc.
