The Office of Equity & Civil Rights Compliance (ECRC) supports Georgia State University's commitment to inclusive excellence by ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local civil rights laws and regulations prohibiting discrimination, harassment, and retaliation for engaging in protected activity, as well as the University's federal affirmative action and equal employment opportunity requirements.

ECRC fulfills this mission via policy development, implementation, and enforcement; investigation of complaints and potential policy violations, oversight of related procedures and the proactive provision of education and guidance to the University community.

ECRC seeks three Assistant Directors of its Investigations unit. Investigations is responsible for the investigations of alleged discrimination, harassment, and/or retaliation based on the protected categories, including investigations of potential violations of Title IX and other sexual misconduct and sexual harassment, as well as providing training and guidance to the University community about University and University System of Georgia policies and best practices.

HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO:



  • Under the supervision of the Director of Investigations, conduct prompt, thorough, objective, and confidential investigations of protected category discrimination, harassment, and retaliation complaints made by students, employees, and third parties (including, but not limited to, Title IX, Title VI, and Title VII); prepare timely and detailed reports of findings/conclusions and reports for internal use; research, draft, and submit responses to inquiries or charges from state or federal agencies and other third parties (65%).
  • Assist the Director of Investigations with day-to-day operations of ECRC's Investigations unit, including review of incident reports, correspondence, and case management, tracking, administration, weekly and monthly reporting (20%).
  • Assist the Director of Investigations in providing guidance and training to campus regarding sexual misconduct, discrimination, harassment, and retaliation, as well as University and University System of Georgia policy and the complaint review and resolution process (10%).
  • Other related duties as assigned (5%).
  • Please note: this position is hybrid. On-site presence at the downtown Atlanta campus is required two to three days per week.
  • Candidates invited to interview with the panel will be asked to submit a writing sample.


NOTE: The ideal candidates have excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, critical and analytical thinking, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills. They are detail-oriented and conscientious with a strong work ethic, and they provide excellent customer service. They are a skilled listener and effective speaker, comfortable dealing with sensitive and personal subjects. They have a legal, compliance, and/or Human Resources background and are able to interpret civil rights and equity policy for students, faculty, and staff.

Qualifications :

Minimum Hiring Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and three years of related experience; or a combination of education and related experience. A JD or equivalent is preferred.
