The Department of Molecular Medicine and Therapeutics (MMT) has an open position for a part-time (20 hours/week) Administrative Assistant (benefits eligible) to support the growing operations of a new department in the College of Medicine. This position functions as an administrative assistant providing customer service and general administrative support to the MMT department. On a day-to-day basis, this position will:

  • Provide general administrative support to department leadership in managing and coordinating daily operations within MMT;
  • Support the Department Chair and Department Administrator with job posting and candidate administration related to faculty recruitment;
  • Coordinate critical aspects of faculty recruitment, including scheduling interviews, creating travel reservations, escorting candidates to in-person interviews on campus, and reconciling travel expenses;
  • Act as the departments procurement initiator, including acting as back-up support as necessary for the department Procurement Card;
  • Support the educational activities of the department, which may include creating courses in SIS and scheduling classrooms;
  • Work with the Department Chair and Department Administrator to maintain the department website and manage related social media;
  • May participate in faculty appointment, re-appointment, and/or promotion and tenure activities;
  • May assists the Department Administrator with general fiscal and human resources activities; and
  • Serve as a liaison with university offices, faculty, staff, and outside agencies.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Strong customer service skills;
  • Familiarity with coordinating travel and complex travel itineraries;
  • Close attention to detail with proven success in staying organized; and
  • Experience with the Microsoft Office software suite.

Minimum Education Required

  • High School diploma or GED. 1 year of relevant experience required. 2-4 years of relevant experience preferred.

This position requires successful completion of a background check. Selected candidate may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.

Additional Education Desired

2-year college degree and/or equivalent education and experience.
