Quality Engineer Job Description

Applicants for the position of Quality Engineer will become a member of the Newington quality team possessing several years of manufacturing QA experience. This individual shall have solid communication skills both oral and written. A background in manufacturing and the responsibilities of quality in such an organization. The qualified candidate has completed a Bachelor's Degree program applicable to the position or equivalent. Previous qualifications in non-destructive testing or strong dimensional inspection skills are a plus.

Responsibilities of the Quality Engineer include but are not limited to

Support the manufacturing effort by:



  • Ensuring contract and code requirements are maintained throughout manufacture. This will include industry standards such as:

    • ASME
    • NQA-1
    • ISO-9001-2015
    • AWS
    • ASTM


  • Coordinate with project engineering to determine/disseminate customer and regulatory requirements
  • Evaluate non-conforming product for acceptance
  • Determine and organize inspection efforts for non-destructive testing and dimensional inspection
  • Generate and revise technical procedures which support the QA program
  • Compile lifetime records which represent the manufactured product for archival and end user need
  • Provide quality oversight at vendors and other Westinghouse sites
  • Provide auditing and audit support
  • Evaluate quality assurance program effectiveness
  • Review supplier documentation for compliance with purchase order and standard requirements
  • Assist manufacturing and inspection with job instruction interpretation
  • Provide guidance to the quality inspection department
  • Drive corrective action
  • Participate in causal analysis
  • Analyzing customer feedback and make changes as needed
  • Determine and evaluate quality metrics which support continuous improvement within the organization
