Team Lead - Warehouse

POSITION SUMMARY

The Warehouse Team Leader has direct responsibilities for the Warehousing and Logistics functions at both the Kalamazoo & Battle Creek Operations including organizational performance, inventory management, and regulatory compliance. This position is expected to understand all facets of warehouse management. The warehouse responsibilities will be divided between two Team Leaders.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for the day-to-day management of logistical operations of all materials for the Kalamazoo facility to Zoetis logistics centers, and customers sourced through Kalamazoo Manufacturing.
  • Responsible to ensure material storage and handling, inventory management, and operating procedures are compliant with internal policies, external regulatory requirements and inventory management of materials and products at the site.
  • Collaborate with Research & Development, Manufacturing Technical Services, Manufacturing, Regulatory and Demand Management to ensure new product introductions are efficient and support the business goals.
  • Ensure warehouse Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are current, aligned with Zoetis practices, and adhered to by all warehouse colleagues and contingent workers.
  • Ensure all quality or regulatory issues and required corrective actions are addressed expeditiously.
  • Ensure all product and material inventories are maintained at levels consistent with organizational objectives, policies, and guidelines.
    • Responsible for completion of cycle counts across the organization.
  • Ensure Material Management ERP / MRP master data is maintained for warehouse functions.
    • Support all Kalamazoo Operations sites and Process Teams in utilizing ERP / MRP systems efficiently and effectively.
    • Subject Mater Expert on SAP Warehouse transactions and master data.
  • Manage and coordinate activities of off-site storage requirements for overflow.
  • Manage and coordinate the purchasing and inventory of warehouse materials used to ship and store Finished Goods
  • Coordinate the management of warehouse expenses and ensure they are maintained within operational budgets and seek continuous improvements through daily focus on waste reduction.
  • Support Procurement and Purchasing groups for returned goods and credits.
  • Support Kalamazoo Operations to ensure proper processing of material destruction and inventory adjustment requirements resulting from quality defects and or obsolescence.
  • Maintain high standards for safety and compliance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIREMENTS

  • Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma mindset and behaviors.
  • Demonstrated commitment to internal and external customer service
  • Strong knowledge and practical experience of production, inventory and planning systems including SAP.
  • Strong knowledge and practical experience in utilizing analytical tools, spreadsheets, and databases to develop reports for strategic planning and communication.
  • Proven ability to lead, synchronize and motivate colleagues to meet short- and long-term objectives.
  • Ability to conceptualize, analyze and implement new methodologies in support of improving customer service, inventory management, and business alignment.
  • Demonstrated ability to function and influence in a matrixed team environment and possess excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Import / Export and Foreign Trade Zone regulations.
  • Demonstrated record of achievement of objectives and proven demonstration and commitment to the Zoetis Core Beliefs

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management or Logistics preferred. Logistics experience with the military is a plus.
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in Supply Chain, Logistics or Manufacturing
  • Multi-lingual preferred
  • Strong interpersonal, teamwork and problem-solving skills. Motivated, self-starter with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to values-based leadership and achieving objectives in a manner that is supportive of the Zoetis Core Beliefs
  • Demonstrated leadership, management, and technical capabilities
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with all levels of the Zoetis organization

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the colleague is regularly exposed to both office settings and a manufacturing environment, including moving mechanical parts. The work conditions for this position are 50% stationary and 50% standing and walking throughout the workday. The colleague may be required to travel < 40 miles/day to multiple warehouses. Potential for domestic and/or international travel up to 10%. The colleague will be required to utilize certain Personal Protective Equipment, including but not limited to, hard hats, safety ("steel-toed") shoes, eye protection, gloves, and protective clothing.
