Foxnews.com is looking for a Writer, Flash/Culture who is well-versed in media, politics, and pop culture and clearly understands the Fox brand and audience to join the team. In this role, you will help drive editorial, book and interview big newsmakers, and coordinate coverage with other sections on the Digital team. You should have strong news judgment and be proactive in quickly responding to breaking news.

You will be offered the following shift:

6:00 AM EDT - 2:00 PM EDT Tuesday-Saturday

YOU MUST BE FLEXIBLE TO WORK NIGHTS, WEEKENDS, AND HOLIDAYS AS NEEDED.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Write and/or copyedit scripts, headlines, and copy; gather elements and coordinate production with technical staff

  • Cover a range of video content including breaking news headlines, enterprise and features

  • Collaborate with FoxNews.com and FoxBusiness.com editors to develop related video story ideas

  • Liaison and manage relationships with guests and Fox News reporters/anchors

  • Use real-time reporting tools and analytics

  • Publish videos using our content management systems

  • Multitask on tight deadlines in a high-pressure environment

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • Bachelor's degree in journalism or a related field of study preferred, or equivalent experience

  • 3+ years of experience in digital news

  • Experience with digital analytics to monitor and build traffic

  • Experience using content management systems and video editing systems

  • Strong knowledge of AP style, strong knowledge of current events and politics

  • Excellent editorial judgment and extensive knowledge of news and current events, entertainment, politics, business, and viral content

  • Strong SEO and social media skills

  • Strong communication and organizational skills

  • Ability to pivot between breaking news stories and in-depth projects with longer deadlines

  • Ability to be a self-starter with strong news judgment for a digital audience

  • Ability/flexibility to work mornings, evenings, or weekends as required

  • Strong command of Adobe Premiere, After Effects, and Illustrator preferred

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is: $61,000.00-70,000.00 annually for Washington, D.C. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
