Sr. Director Portfolio Strategy, Specialty Medicine

Location: Philadelphia, PA or Durham, NC

In this role within the Specialty Business Unit, you will report to the Marketing VP and partner with Brand Leads to develop and deliver the portfolio and go-to-market strategy.

This is a highly visible and strategically important role for GSK so we are looking for a highly experienced leader and marketer who can interact seamlessly with US LOC senior leaders (President of US, Business Unit Head, and VPs) as well as global counterparts.

This role focuses on developing/leveraging the following marketing capabilities:

  • Portfolio Brand Strategy
  • Messaging & Content Strategy
  • Customer Segmentation
  • Customer Journeys
  • Market Landscape & Understanding

This individual will interact with cross-functional stakeholders in the US LOC, including Brand Leads, Medical, Market Access, and Strategy, Insights, Transformation & Operations (SITO), Finance, Sales, & US Government Relations. You will also sit on the Business Unit marketing leadership team.

The specific accountabilities of the role include but are not limited to the following:

  • Partner with the VP Marketing, Specialty to develop and ultimately deliver a cross-functional specialty portfolio strategy that maximizes the value of the portfolio for the near and long term - utilizing any/all commercial levers
  • Serve as the single point of contact for the portfolio strategy workstream in the US LOC - responsible for driving strategic insights, decisions and capability builds across US functions
  • Engage with the Brand Leads for input and alignment with the strategy
  • Maintain detailed understanding of disease and competitive marketplace
  • Foster an environment of innovation, inclusion, challenge, trust, and development.

Why you?

Basic Qualifications:

  • 15+ years' experience in US pharmaceutical/biotech in-line brand marketing
  • 10+ years' experience in strategy development and execution
  • Experience in HCP administered / specialty products
  • Minimum of 2 days per week in office required
  • Ability to travel up to 20% domestic travel

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Global brand experience
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking and analytical skills, balanced with strong operational experience
  • Launch experience/demonstrated ability to shape the market and utilize innovative go-to- market approaches
  • Demonstrates an understanding of US Pharmaceutical channel, pricing, and market access strategies
  • Broad commercial experience, including:
    • Brand lifecycle management
    • Senior leader engagement
    • Matrix team leadership
    • Customer insight, messaging, campaign, creative development
    • Budget management; P&L ownership
