An exciting opportunity awaits a business development professional to lead, develop, and coordinate marketing efforts in a collaborative environment. The Marketing Services Manager is responsible for working with our Missouri/Kansas Transportation Business Development Leader to provide strategic technical support and message building for project pursuit teams. Marketing leadership and proposal management are critical components of HDR's business development program and to this key role. The Marketing Services Manager will serve as a partner to our marketing and engineering teams including the Missouri-Kansas area transportation Business Development Lead, Business Manager, client managers, project managers, and marketing coordinators. In this role, we will count on you to:



  • Lead or support the marketing approach of transportation pursuits including develop winning strategies, facilitate pursuit teams to develop persuasive proposals/presentations, coach presentation teams, and develop industry marketing content.
  • Lead the creation of visual technical information graphics that support marketing messaging. Oversee technical proposal writing and editing, desktop publishing, and document development and production.
  • Lead and support marketing coordinators involved in the production of proposal and interview content including review, quality assurance, and branding compliance.
  • Collaborate with area leadership to monitor and maintain HDR's internal marketing system. Provide routine monitoring of marketing databases and programs, monitoring of internal marketing dashboards, and marketing training needs of engineering team members.
  • Support the area transportation leadership in the development of annual strategic planning in coordination with regional goals.
  • Monitor and report marketing performance indicators including win and capture rates and marketing costs.
  • Review the monthly reports and forecasts of annual goals for contract bookings, marketing expenses, and project opportunities.
  • Collaborate and advise on staff marketing training needs to support client managers to improve understanding of our client's business. Train and mentor team members on business development and marketing best practices.
  • Collaborate with the client managers to develop effective client management plans.
  • Develop business relationships with teaming partners.
  • Maintain inventory of branded materials used for client visits, conferences and recruiting activities.
  • Plan and fulfill conference sponsorship benefits as needed.
  • Manage workload demands of marketing coordinators and proposal managers


Preferred Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, business administration, engineering, or related field.
  • Ability to develop winning attributes and messaging, technical writing, capture plans, and client management plans.
  • Ability to envision and create highly graphical and compelling content for qualifications, proposals, and presentations.
  • Good understanding of transportation engineering technical content and translating sound engineering knowledge into persuasive marketing messaging.
  • Collaborative initiative-taker who is adaptable and flexible to create partnerships with a broad array of team members (with varying skill levels, personalities, experience, and marketing acumen).
  • Experienced in the management of diverse teams and able to work cooperatively with regional and national marketing staff.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, teams, and deadlines. Ability to make independent decisions.
  • Deep knowledge of the A/E/C industry's standard approach to procurement of professional services

Required Qualifications
  • A minimum of 8 years relevant industry experience
  • Demonstrated "self-starter" with a history of completing projects with limited oversight
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate and inspire others
  • Experience in sales and developing effective win strategies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud applications, including InDesign
  • Ability and desire to travel and engage with others in-person
  • Demonstrated experience in winning high-value contracts in the A/E/C industry
  • Demonstrated experience in writing compelling content based on information from technical staff
