Overview

HJF is seeking a Research Associate II to perform research and/or development in collaboration with other scientific and technical staff. May exercise technical discretion in the design, execution, and interpretation of experiments that contribute to project strategies.

This position will be in support of the Center for Health Services Research (CHSR) at Uniformed Services University, the Military Health System Response to COVID-19 (MiHReC19) Project will investigate the long-term effects of COVID-19 on the Military Health System (MHS). The project will use a comprehensive Health Systems approach in order to maximize the translatable, actionable knowledge generated from the lessons learned. The approach will apply three interlocking lines of effort: 1. Apply the overall WHO Framework for Health Systems to include a comprehensive and integrated examination of the MHS through a series of interviews which will lead to long-term recommendations for MHS improvements; 2. Conduct a comprehensive approach to examine mid- and long-term impacts to health service delivery innovations and challenges using the framework of the Continuum of Care through policy reviews, key informant interviews, and secondary data analysis of the MHS Data Repository (MDR); and 3. Apply health service research methods to the MHS Data Repository (MDR) to examine population health outcomes impacted by decisions to delay care, and changes in access and utilization of health services.

The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine. Responsibilities

  • Assist with development of IRB applications; implement research protocols for qualitative and quantitative methods.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret data using tools like NVivo and SAS.
  • Conduct literature reviews, systematic reviews, and contribute to scholarly manuscripts and reports.
  • Prepare and present research findings through reports, posters, and presentations for diverse audiences.
  • Assist in grant writing and participate in project planning, reporting, and status update meetings.
  • Facilitate key informant interviews, maintain data confidentiality, and comply with HIPAA guidelines.
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Master's degree in public health or related field with strong background in health services research.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years' experience required.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Proficiency in data analysis software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to convey complex information to various audiences.
  • Knowledge of IRB processes, human subjects research ethics, and research methodologies preferred.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and time management skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a T1/Public Trust Background Check.

Work Environment

  • This position will take place primarily in a telework setting.

Compensation

  • The annual salary range for this position is $57,650-$80,000 Actual salary will be determined based on experience, education, etc.
