POSITION SUMMARY

Manage Facilities & Mountain Construction Department, through planning of preventative maintenance work. Manage all aspects of project design & coordination. Oversee the daily and weekly work done in the Facilities & Mountain Construction department. Coordinate projects with contractors, including getting bids and seeing the projects through to completion. As part of the management team, ensure understanding and compliance with all company policies and procedures as well as any regulatory requirements. The Engineering Manager will coordinate with the Engineering team at the Steamboat Grand Hotel toward cross functional teams where appropriate and/or necessary.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Oversee Facilities & Mountain Construction staff and 3rd party vendors daily, ascertain work progress, and assign assistance or provide advice as needed
  • Implement the scheduling of staff and 3rd party vendors
  • Planning and development of large-scale maintenance and construction projects for SSRC
  • Ensure that all employees are wearing the proper personal protective gear for the job that they are doing, per OSHA regulations. May include, but is not limited to: Safety glasses, Steel Toed Shoes, Long pants, Hard Hats, Safety Vets, etc.
  • Ensure understanding and compliance with all building codes, safety regulations and company policies and procedures proactive to safety awareness as well as any regulatory requirements
  • Oversee and work with Water Purveyor to ensure water facilities remain in good working order
  • Available for home telephone contact in the event of an emergency
  • Create weekly labor forecasts and verify payroll procedures and timekeeping for direct reports
  • Responsible for the formulation and administration of Engineering and Construction teams policies and procedures
  • Manage and supervise Engineering team staff to include coaching, disciplinary actions, interviewing and separations with review by Director and HR
  • Manage and advise contractors. Review contractors work and billings
  • Assist Director of Facilities & Mountain Construction with budgeting for future in house projects, capital maintenance project requests and general building/appliance preventative maintenance
  • Other duties as assigned


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum 5 years' experience doing commercial maintenance
  • Prior supervisory experience required
  • Must have a working knowledge of heating, ventilation, air conditioning systems, fire suppression system, alarms and controls, air compressors, circulating pumps, general plumbing applications, basic carpentry, basic electric, food and beverage equipment and general building maintenance.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel & Word
  • Working knowledge of the CMMS
  • Ability to problem solve in a highly effective manner and maintain positive relationships with guests and staff, including management, subordinates and co-workers.
  • Ability to be a consistent role model for company's Service Excellence standards
  • Thorough knowledge of OSHA regulations and material safety data requirements
  • Must be able to clearly communicate, write and read in English
  • Must be able to operate snow machines and other heavy equipment safely
  • Must be able to operate phone, radios and computer keyboards on a regular basis
  • Must have general supervisory skills as well as scheduling and time management expertise.
  • Ability to problem-solve in a highly effective manner and maintain positive relationships with guests and staff, including management, subordinates and co-workers.
  • Working knowledge of budget development and forecast, contract review, proposal process development and construction processes.
  • Ski or Snowboard in winter conditions preferred
  • Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check


EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent


The base salary range below represents the low and high end of the Steamboat Ski and Resort Corporation salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on a range of factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component of Steamboat Ski and Resort Corporation total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term and long-term incentives.

Steamboat area base salary range: $60,549.02 - $87,190.60 per year

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be able to climb ladders or scaffolding in cold and icy conditions
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds on a regular basis (equipment parts such as motors)
  • Must be able to bend, climb under equipment, lift, push, pull large equipment such as ovens and dishwashers; able to work in confined areas
  • Must be able to ski or snowboard at a minimum intermediate level
  • Willing to work outside in all weather conditions
  • Must be able to safely operate company motor vehicles
  • Must successfully complete a background check
  • Must meet SSRC minimum driving standards and have current Driver's license, a successful motor vehicle record, background check is required.
  • Must be able to travel around the mountain in inclement conditions
